“Great Place - family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

we arrived with two children (ages 7 and 9). reception is very kind. breakfast is fresh and appropriate. It is not a large scale hotel, but the breakfast includes the best bacon I've tasted in a while. The grounds are beautiful. Only wish was that there were more playground facilities. There were several kids there as it was May holiday in Europe. Most guests do day trips, but we actually stayed at the grounds, it was very peaceful. Nice pool with an attractive view of the valley. My husband and I had the chance to go running around the area, it is pretty steep but it beats running back home. We also purchased the olive oil from them. Olives are pressed in October, so we missed the chance to see them actually make the olive oil. Our room had impressive high ceilings and was decorated in the 'rustic' Italian design. I was pretty amazed at how good the water pressure was in the room. In general, recommendation this is a great place to stay.

My husband and I returned to Villa Campestri for our second stay....this time for 2 weeks. The staff, again, made our stay extra special with their wonderful service and genuine warmth. The Pasquali family has truly created an extraordinary place with Villa Campestri....stunning location with exquisite views, lovely clean rooms, good food, and charming atmosphere. The SPO ( Salus per Oleum) beauty treatments are wonderful and can be enjoyed in a private corner of the olive groves or in a relaxing "spa" room inside the Villa. Also, the Olive Oil tasting is an experience not to be missed, especially for food lovers. You will learn about the difference of quality olive oil vs. mass produced, how to taste olive oil, a bit of olive history and the production of olive oil at Villa Campestri. There is a great book out "Extra Virginity" by Tom Mueller that I highly recommend reading before you go that is fascinating and will add to your experience and appreciation of what Villa Campestri olive oil is all about. They also have the book available there.
Villa Campestri's location is perfect for a base in Tuscany...easy train ride into Firenze, about an hour to Chianti by car, you can even get to the sea in under 2 hours! Also, the small town of Scarperia, famous for knife making, in only a 15 minute drive..for anyone who loves to cook this place has several very famous knife shops/factories. You can even have a custom set made that will last a lifetime.
We will be back again soon...next time with our 2 children to stay in one of their family apartments for several weeks.
Great tip to get your vacation started off right....pre-book a "Jet Lag" massage for the day after you get there. For those who have travelled a long way to get there it is a wonderful treat that will help with sore muscles from the plane and help you get a great sleep and get your body clock on local time faster!
Paolo, Gemma, Viola, Dario, Sandra, Tatianna, Bianca, Daniella and ALL the incredible staff.....we are counting the days until we are back!!

This is really a piece of heaven secluded in the Tuscan hills! The pictures cannot even come close to describe the pristine beauty of the nature surrounding this estate. 700 years of history has been carefully preserved in the main house adding a touch of modern amenities just to make your stay more comfortable. The service is beyond excellent. Everybody, from the gardener to the owner are kind and professional. The restaurant is something you should not miss. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting the chef, but the food quality, presentation and recipe originality are on a level of a Michelin star cook. The maître is really good at his job, takes the time to explain whatever you need and always finds a perfect wine to match your food. And then another pleasant surprise... the prices are moderate if you take into consideration the overall experience (100 euros for a three course dinner for two, a bottle of medium priced wine and water). Do not miss the opportunity to plant your olive tree. For only 25 euros, you will get a memory for a lifetime. There are a lot of activities at disposal we haven't had a chance to explore due to the fact that we were visiting with our 15 month old son.
To cut a long story short, it is worth every cent you spend!
P.S. Look out for special offers on their website, you can get a really good deal.

We, 3 couples from Israel, spent 4 nights at this special place. It is not our first vacation in Tuscany but first in the Mugello region. The Villa is carefully restored with warmth and charm that surround you in the rooms and public areas. The rooms are spacious with comfortable beds and well equipped. We had dinner 3 times, the food was modern Italian with respect to local ingredients and traditional techniques. Dario the friendly waiter showed deep knowledge about the food and wine and provided excellent suggestions. Breakfast was generous with fresh juice, fruits home made pastry, and anything a person would wish for. The owners are welcoming and also helped with useful recommendations for restaurants, wine tasting and shopping. We shall come back with all the family to try the pool.

My wife and I had a fantastic time staying at this beautiful resort.

It was probably the best holiday we have ever had!

The staff were always friendly and exceptionally helpful, the food was absolutely delicious, the room was amazing, the location and grounds incredible.

Thank you so much… We will be back.

What a special place! Highlights of our visit included the following:

1) Amazing personal service and attention. In the restaurant Dario provided a depth of knowledge and insight into the food, wine, and of course the olive oil! He and his colleague brought enthusiasm and soul to every meal, while remaining thoroughly professional. In the reception Viola and Gemma and their superb colleagues provided all the guidance a traveller new to the area might need to make the most of their trip.

2) The villa itself is a very special building, furnished with fascinating antiques, and with large wood-panelled sitting room areas on each floor.

3) We stayed in room 68 which is a large and wonderfully characterful suite. The exposed beams holding up the roof are enormous, and rise to a height of four or five metres at the ceiling’s apex. The bathroom has both shower and bath, and is spacious.

4) Dinners were excellent, with great care taken in both the preparation and presentation.

5) The location is great, completely off the beaten track, very quiet, dark at night surrounded by olive groves. Walks on the Mugello Hills can be taken right from the front door of the Villa. Yet just 40 minutes by train to Florence.

For travellers who may be a little critical, go and enjoy Villa Campestri for all it has to offer. And … be prepared to accept that this is a historic building with old furnishings and in places not the very latest fixtures and fittings in the bedroom and bathroom. This is part of the hotel's charm!

This is an amazing resort. The cook is top-notch, rooms are very spacious, huge bathrooms, original 1400 floor and ceiling in some parts, very relaxing atmosphere.
Be aware that Florence is 35 Km away, but that takes one hour along a long and winding (though charming) road. So this resort is in the middle of nowhere, which adds to its charm.
