This is a rarity in the Mugello. A genuine family concern where everybody, including grandparents, pitches in. It eschews the normal tourist menu and offers first class traditional cuisine. Prosciutto, of course, wonderful bistecca di fiorentina, pigeon, wild boar, game of all sorts, a great wine selection and pasta made by La Mama! So popular that it only offers lunch and not Tuesday or Wednesday. The Florentines travel 30 plus miles to eat there on the weekend and there are three sittings for Sunday lunch, so table settings are spartan and tightly packed. Sit between a local builder and the couple who drove out from Florence in their Ferrari ! You wouldn't tolerate it but for the buzz and the food. Weekend booking a week in advance advisable. Those disappointed, who just turn up, buy lunch in the terrific deli in the entrance and lunch at picnic tables next to the river just outside the entrance.

A family run restaurant,never open in the evening but always busy during the day,friendly,joyful,including the food,which is excellent ,fresh,simple,honest and fresh.The prices are even better than the charming ?italian,service

La Casa del Prosciutto is one of those small amzing places that is so easy to just roll past, but if you stop you will be awed by the truely tuscan dishes and traditional setting. The Strozza Preti con Burro and Salvia (butter and sage) is to die for and the Funghi and Fiore di Zucca fritti is also quite amazing. I love this place and evry one of the family who runs it is so nice and friendly.

Great place if you look for local food lunch in a very old, small Italian place. Hardly speak English but that makes it even better...
