“A magical place in Tuscany”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

We have spent 5 days in this marvelous B&B late August 2012 and enjoyed our stay very much. Location is perfect for excursions in the Chianti region (by car) from Firenze to Siena. The hosts are very nice people, They really went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Best way to grab the feeling of real Tuscany. A place we will surely return to.

We had the great opportunity to be guests in Andrea's Bed & Breakfast.
It is a wonderful and lovely place with a georgous view of Tuscan country side.
We look forward to coming back another year for another week to enjoy Tuscan culture, wine and food.

A new B&B just started in 2011 by a brother and sister on their families beautiful farm just 3 or 4 miles off both the main highways to Rome and Sienna. Although their Olive groves and vineyard overlooked a 3 mile vista across a valley with of farms, woods and quaint homes, it was only 5 min from a unique Tuscany village with tourise shopping and only a 25 min drive to downtown Florence.
The large bedrooms and dining room was decorated beautiful antique furniture that was in their family for many years. But the best part of the stay with Laura and Andrea was the outstanding food and local wines they served from breakfast to late evenings. The meals were not only the best received on our 2 week trip thru Italy, my family still rate them among the top ten meals we have had over the past ten years. My daughter is a National Account Mgr and spends a lot of time entertaining clients from California to NYC to outstanding restaurants (discussing business, of course) and is not easily impressed, but she requested we call back to Laura for another night's stay and dinner as we passed thru Sienna towards the Cinque Terre, a week after our original 3 day stay. We were lucky, they had an open room for the night.
The prices for the meals and rooms were very reasonably, probably fifty to sixty percent of the price charged in the major cities and even the local Tuscany tourist towns like Sienna, San Gimignano, and Orvieto.
The family farm is amde up of four major building surrounded by some large pine trees and several areas for eating outside at breakfast or in the evenings, if desired. The large inside dining room is in the second floor and has a large window (windows were usually wide open and did not need any screens, because we never saw an insect while there) which presented us with a beautiful sunset every evening in mid June.
We can't wait to return to Italy to explore more of Italy and especially Tuscany. We will use Il Giglio as a base for exploring Florence and the northern half of the Tuscany area for at least five days.
The only negative comment I can make about this wonderful B & B is that it is hard to find since the local town does not like the use of signs in their community. But with such great hosts as Laura and Andrea, you will be well taken care of if you contact them before you arrive for detailed instructions. And if you are interested in any private or group tours of natural areas, Andrea was just finishing formal requirements and training for leading tours of mountain and natural areas. He is very knowledgeable in the areas of botany and biology (like a forrest ranger in US park systems).
Enjoy our find, but leave space for us when we can return.
