“Italian with a contemporary twist”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

We visited here while staying in a nearby house and were delighted with the creative food at this quaint place near the center of the village. We dined al fresco on fresh porcini and cabbage salad and pici with sage and nutmeg, as well as boar ravioli. Perfect portion sizes and really nice selection of breads! Our group of 5 had fun tasting each other's dishes! The wines were great and the service top notch!

“So nice in Castelnuovo B'ga-- Add to your agenda”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

This restaurant is the location of a former pizzeria we enjoyed last time we were in the area. We headed straight here after our 20+ hours of travel for dinner on our way to our accommodations and were surprised to find ourselves instead of tucking into a good pizza having in the midst of a a memorable meal of a creative Tuscan cuisine. Ravioli con cinghaile, a delicious duck and a pheasant soup were highlights of this meal and a later one when we returned. Each time we ordered bottles of wine that were on la lista but no longer available. This is the sort of struggle that a new restaurant can have. Tomasso, we understand, trained under Helena at La Bottega del Trenta in Villa a Sesta. He has talent though not to her level. She remains the top of the heap in the area by far. On our second visit the place was busy and presentation suffered as did service. But Tomasso has a future and we certainly can recommend the restaurant for a nice meal.

“Innovative take on Tuscan Cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

We dined at La Locanda di Tomasso in early October 2012. We chose this restaurant based upon our research prior to our trip. We stayed in a villa about 10 miles outside Siena to the East which made this restaurant an easy trip. The menu uses local ingredients and a little creativity to provide a unique dining experience. While we primarily dined at traditional Tuscan restaurants, the menu here provided an excellent twist on traditional Tuscan cuisine. Service was attentive, and the cost was surprisingly reasonable. The outdoor patio provided an excellent atmosphere in a quiet piazza in the center of Castelnuovo Berardenga. We will definitely return.

“Fabulous...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

Thank you, "Il Bivvaco", after the moment when you tell us that we cannot drink a bootle of wine after spending 220€ one day before for a dinner, we found the most nicest & young chef in Tuscany, Tommaso, with a beautifull and high quality restaurant... And after all we try all the food... Happy birthday Tommaso and hope to see you again next year...

“What a great hidden jewel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

We found this little place through trip advisor, and we are so glad we reserved a table for us and our 2 kids outside. Great and friendly service where this young dynamic couple are working hard to bring great, honest and very fine food. Service with a smile, and food to die for!!!!
Nothing to do with the tourist traps you sometimes can fall into in Tuscany but one of the greatest little restaurants we have found since we are coming to Tuscany, and that is since over 10 years....

Homebaked bread still luke warm in the basket, and one of the best tagliata's I've had. The cod Tartare is magnificent and refreshing..... This young cook has a lot of talent and his young wife handles the service with a smile and warm friendliness!!!

Even if you have to make a detour, it will be worth your wile! We warmly recommend this nice little place!
