We were greeted by a "sour puss" face of an elder man. Please note that we are two guys asking for a room for two nights and being in Sicily we are aware that some glances can be expected (this was indeed the only place it ever happened). We had been touring Sicily by car for 2 weeks, we did almost 3000KM so we are a little "dizzy" from another day of trekking. He gave us our room with multiple instructions about the three keys, breakfast either in our room or on the 3rd floor terrace, where to go, what to see, directions, restaurants, water, cable, WiFi, etc. I caught most of it but not all of it. Oh yes ... Italian is my mother tongue so language is not an issue. We gave instructions that we would like breakfast at 09h00 on the terrace ... kind of start the morning slowly.
That evening, we couldn't get in the the main gate cause the key didn't fit in. We tried all three keys to no avail. No one answered the doorbell. Our cell phone was in our room so we couldn't call someone. FORTUNATELY, another guest arrived 5 minutes later (it's about 22h45) and let us in. We then were able to get to our room.
The next day I sarcastically showed him the three keys and asked which one was for the front door. He got very upset and answered "Weren't you paying attention yesterday when I explained everything to you ... you're supposed to use the other door (30 feet to the right where we checked in) to enter the courtyard. That way you can go up to the second floor without going through the house. Why would I make you go through that door and go up the inside staircase".
I just looked at him in astonishment and my only thought was ... "This guy hasn't had some in a very long time".
I just let this pass and ignored it ... we all have bad hair days.
That evening we wanted to let him know we'd like breakfast at 08h00 since we were leaving for Agrigento but we couldn't get a hold of him.
The next morning we were packing the car and decided that if we saw him we tell him if we could only have 1 coffee with nothing else.
It's 8:10 when we were ready and saw him come in. We told him that we wanted to leave early and he went on about how we hadn't told him, breakfast wasn't ready with his sour puss face and it will take time for the espresso machine to warm up. We explained that we couldn't get a hold of him and that one coffee each (no food) and we'd be on our way and ... so sorry we didn't tell you before.
Mr. Sour Puss went on his way and we waited (like two idiots) until 9:15 to get our coffees.
We sipped them in 11 seconds and got the hell out.
THE ONLY NOTE I WANT READERS TO REMEMBER IS THE FOLLOWING:
THIS B & B IS ON A VERY STEEP/UPHILL BUSY STREET OF NOTO. Earplugs will not muffle the noise from trucks, cars, scooters and motorcyles. We didn't sleep for two nights.
Enjoy my review.
