My wife flew in from the U.S. I came by Navy boat. We met at Venus. It was too brief of a stay. The hotel was 75 Euro's from the airport (Get a rental car with good gas mileage). It is in a remote location in Brucoli (Be prepared for two English channels and 15 Italian channels on tv). Go here if you want privacy, great food and an unbelieveable sea view. Do not go here if you want to be close to the big cities of Sicily. If you do not rent a car, the bus comes by the hotel and will take you to Augusta for 2 Euros. Siracusa and Taormina are assecible by bus or train and both are worth the journey. The hotel itself is gorgeous. The rooms are simple with connected porches and spectacular views. The beds are reasonably firm. AC is ample if ou close all the windows. The pools are well populated past 11am, but the clientele is select. The connected restaurant has a superb breakfast. Miss it at your own peril. The view itself it breathless. Then go to Augusta, Etna, Agrigento or the pool again and remember to return for dinner. Let the waiter pick your wine. Try different dishes The steak). Brush up on your Italian and plan for a very relaxing, quiet retreat.
