“Beautiful presentation, attentive service, delicious food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2013

I came to this restaurant on a Sunday night- this place was, repeatedly, recommended by locals. Reservations are hard to come by, so, whether you're 2 or 10 people be sure to call several days ahead.

We were a group of five friends and ordered some house red and white wine (about 1,5 litres in total), and the "special starter" and the "regular starter" to begin with. The "regular" starter was a generous helping of salumi, prosciutto, mozzarella, and ricotta cheese with honey and some pear, accompanied by grissini. The "special" starter was a magnificent dish which included: ricotta with fresh fava beans and honey, mozzarella & tomato with pesto, little crostini, egg & poppy seed rolls of prosciutto and prunes, a salad made of fresh, finely chopped raw asparagus & fresh strawberries (highlight of my evening), salad with mâche, muesli, oranges and nuts, and lots of fresh fruit and veggies on the side. This was undoubtedly the star of the meal!

As a main course we enjoyed two plates of beef carpaccio with rucola, steak with fresh raspberries, lamb with grilled vegetables, and pasta with gorgonzola & black truffles; we had coffee at the end end. The service was young, polite and very friendly. I was very, very impressed with the presentation of the food- it was exquisite, hats off to the Chef. Please take a look at my pictures. Finally, the prices are also very reasonable, the total bill for 5 came to around 140 Euros.

Thank You for a lovely evening, and, I would certainly dine here again.

“Traditional with a twist, very nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

Good food presented in an orignal and modern way that is unusual for a small-town restaurant. The owners are extremely nice and the variety of food offered is extensive. Basically what they do is offer very traditional dishes presented and reworked in a modern way. For example parmesan, rocket and some kind of prosciutto or bresaola is a classic in Italy, but they shred the prosciutto into a fine fluff making it nicer to look at and easier to eat. The entire time I felt I recognized the flavours of the things I was eating but the presentation was very original, you'd get your pasta in special dishes or crowned with breadstick decorations. Some people in the room got a real kick out of presentation, oooohing and aaaahing at every dish. The portions were also amble put not excessive, more modern that what you get in a traditional place. Other nice touches: a quail egg with truffle as antipasto (very yummy), warm chestnuts wrapped in prosciutto or similar (sweet, soft, delicious), duck in raspberry sauce. Lots of fun things to try and a good selection of meats, which is not usual for the Rome area. Overall a truly positive experience, I would definitely reccomend trying this restaurant. Just a few notes: all my dishes seemed to have strawberries in them, from the antipasto all the way to the dessert, I like fruit, and I guess clients get a kick out of it so maybe it's a smart move, but I thought it was a little weird. The wine list which was pretty decent didn't have years for the wines, that's not too cool, you need the years, it makes a big difference. The room is a bit dark, you feel like you're in a cellar, but to the owners' credit they decorated well in order to compensate and the tables are cozy.
