Being in a small picturesque village (Pikouliania), you cannot really imagine this hidden treasure! One of the best dinner I have ever had in Greece.

“Perfection in the Peloponnese”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

We stayed at the wonderful Mazaraki guesthouse nearby and ate here all 3 nights which is a first for us. The food was as good as all the previous reviews, freshly cooked, full of flavour and served by the friendly and talented staff. Whilst we were there a kitten dislodged a pumpkin from a display, cracking it in the process. The next evening it was on the menu, perfectly cooked in phyllo pastry with cheese and cinnamon, these are people who know how to cook. Some of the best cooking we have had anywhere

“A wonderful dining experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

This was our first trip to Greece. We knew the place would be beautiful, well stunning actually...no real surprises here. What I did not know before, is how excellent the food experience in Greece would be and how incredibly wonderful the people. And all of this was evidenced by our dining experience at Chromata.

We were welcomed by Nikos, the owner of the restaurant, who gave us a passionate introduction to the menu. It all sounded delicious and we asked for his personal favourite dishes. We ended up having the chromata salad, smoked pork marinated in orange juice and served with goat cheese on wheat rusk, zucchini fritters (unlike you have ever eaten them before!) and the wild mushroom tagliatelle. We were seated outside and the view of Mystras and Sparti under a star-lit (and full moon) sky was just stunning.

What's left to say...the food was superb, a feast for the senses, and it had us coming back for the next two evenings (I can also highly recommend the chicken with kurkuma and rapeseed...I even had it twice!)....The service was very personal and warm. Nikos is a wonderful host and it feels like you are invited into his home.

Don't miss out on this food experience when you are visiting Mystras/Sparti/Greece!
