My partner and I came back yesterday from a week's break at the Summery Hotel. Having read the previous reviews before we booked, there is very little I can now add in regards to the location, aircon, wifi, breakfast, etc which were all excellent! Yes it is basic, yes a little bit outdated and the shower in room 318 is tiny! However, the cleanliness is outstanding and if you have a sea view it's amazing. The only thing that spoiled the view a little, was the big old concrete, and I think unused, basketball court, but just look to the right and you are looking at paradise with the sea and the mountains at the back! The hotel may only be a 2 stars but the owners and the staff certainly make it a big 5 stars hotel!! Working for an airline gives me the opportunity to travel the world and stay in big posh hotels however, I can honestly say that the staff at the Summery are the best hotel staff we have ever encountered. They couldn't do enough for us. Few examples, I kept forgetting to charge my mobile phone, I would just take it to reception and they would very happily charge it for me. My partner forgot the USB cable to charge his IPod and the owner went home and brought his and charged the IPod for us everyday! I became a bit of a celebrity when I told the owners and staff I was from Venezuela!! :) The staff were all lovely, smiley and genuinely friendly! Maria at reception always very interested in what we had been up to and how we were. The gentleman reception during the day very helpful. And unfortunately, we didn't get the name of the night porter but again, he was extremely helpful and chatty. The sisters owners very friendly and the Dad taught me a few Greek words! A special mention to Eleni, she always had a permanent smile and it was a pleasure chatting to her everyday! This is a very well run family hotel where everyone seems genuinely happy to be there and the owners certainly know how to manage their staff and it shows in the way they all treat the guests. This may not be a 5 star and very posh hotel but we didn't pay 5 stars prices and I truly fell in love with the Summery hotel. We will certainly and happily go back to it! Thanks Summery for making our week a brilliant, chilled and relaxed one! Hope to see you all very soon :-)

we were so happy to have you at the Summery and thank you so very much for your kind words and for recommending our hotel to your circle of your friends and colleagues, as well as to the Trip Advisor community. During your stay you gave the Summery some of your Venezuelan sparkle, so no wonder all the staff loved you and wanted to teach you Greek and keep you here!
Regarding your mention of the basketball field which is indeed old (although people still use it a lot) I should explain that it is not part of the hotel, but belongs to the local Council. Recently it was announced that there will be some major rethinking and reconstruction of the whole area taking place over the winter. The restoration of the Bauhaus School build in the 20's by the famous Greek Architect Thucydides P. Valentis -a controversial Lixouri landmark that has divided the locals in the past- has already begun and it is happening as we speak. Perhaps -who knows?- the southern tip of the port of Lixouri will look all new and upgraded by next summer!
Hope to see you earlier than that though. September is a great month to visit!
Best Wishes from
The 2 sisters, Dad, Eleni, Maria, Harry (the night porter), Bill (the morning receptionist) and everyone at the Summery
