“Lower end of the scale in Lixouri”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013

This is where we ate our most mediocre meal in Lixouri during our one week stay, we were recommended the Kleftiko by the waiter, which is a local speciality(a lamb dish with tomatoes and vegetables). The lamb was dry and tough, and nothing special with regards to taste. Also the service was sub-par, which ends up landing Maxim a mere two out of five. On a side-note they're waiters were the most pushy to get you into the restaurant.

“Consistently good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2013

We ate at Maxim for the majority of our meals on our two week holiday as we found it to be one of the best in Lixouri and a good position on the waterfront. We tried many things on the menu and the Kleftiko was delicious, as was the Sea bream and the Steaks. My daughter loved the spaghetti bolognaise and the staff (especially lovely Anna) always made a fuss of her. I had to send my Moussaka back once as cold but other than that it was very good.

“Pretty good local food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Our first night in Cephalonia we spent at Maxim. We offered Greek salad and special marinated chicken. we were satisfied but not overwhelmed. Good quality food, nice seaview. For me as a food critic there was way too much items on menu. I am afraid when there is so many different things, not everything can be fresh.

“Good value, decent souvlaki”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

We had lunch here mid-week in July on the basis of some good reviews on tripadvisor. The Souvlaki was tasty, and surprisingly spicy, but nothing to write home about. It was very quiet when we were there, and I suspect there is more atmosphere at night.

“Superb meat pie”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013 via mobile

Good harbour location.

We had Kefalonia meat pie and a beef stifado. Probably the best kefalonia meat pie I've ever had. The pastry was light, the rice well cooked and the meat very tender and well seasoned. Helen's stifado was succulent.

Plate of melon and liqueurs were on the house.

The service was attentive and the proprietor kept us entertained with a humorous version of his recent motorbike accident!

Highly recommended.
