“Appalling!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2009

We arrived at this hotel late evening after a long transfer from a ski resort in Austria. Despite the fact that all 4 family rooms had been booked months in advance, one of them was "overbooked" when we arrived. One of the families (with 2 small children!) had to be moved 3 times between 10.30pm and midnight as the first room they were allocated was occupied by a couple in their sleepingwear (!!!) and the second room was in a "garage" next to a very loud party (Fasching). The room where they finally stayed in did not have a private bathroom, only a sink!!!
The service was appalling! The female receptionist did not even greet us in the morning. She seemed really stressed out as she or another member of staff had also "overbooked" our transfer to the airport. She did not apologise at all about it. Fortunately a couple who was booked on the same transfer as us kindly gave away their seats.
The ONLY positive about this hotel is that it is close to Munich Airport (10 mn transfer).

My husband and me stayed at the hotel for 10 hours before flight from Munich airport at the beginning of January 09. It's the worst place i have ever been to due to the following reasons:

1. The room was VERY cold and despite radiator working on max we could not get warm even under the cover. It was even more cold in the corridor and at the reception... The showerroom did not have radiator at all and it was impossible even to wash hands!

2. When we ordered tea with lemon the lemon has been eaten by somebody!!! When i went down to change it, they said it was ok but finally gave a new piece.. No sanitary at all!

3. When we decided to have tea for the next time, i went downstairs and saw that the cups were not washed, but just put into soap water...

Though the rate for the hotel was not high, it is completely auwful place which i would not recommend to anyone!

  • Liked — location near the airport
  • Disliked — insanitary conditions, cold rooms

We had a early morning flight and stayed here for 2 nights before going home.

Pros
Close to airport, shuttle service was cheap (6 euro oneway) and excellent breakfast buffet.

Cons
*We had confirmed an early check in by email, but when we arrived staff was clueless.
*Room was tiny, (no exaggeration here), we couldnt fit in the bathroom :) and we are not large people.
*Room quoted was non smoking but ours surely smelled smoke.
*We were leaving in the morning so paid the night before. In the morning the staff had no clue about our payment. We had to search our luggage for the receipt to prove that we had paid, never got our breakfast packet either as promised the night before (since we were leaving early in the am).

I would not recommend this hotel. There are other hotels in this area for the same price, try them instead.

Front desk manager had put us up in a room that i scraped my nose on the wall when getting up out of bed. Then graciously the manager upgraded my wife and me to apartment # 50 which had 3 bedrooms, partly because my room key for room 4 broke in the lock. The apartment as its called had 3 bedrooms and bugs all over tiled floor and carpets in the bedroom. The bugs were large, and there were mouse droppings on the bathroom floor and several crawling insects seen on wall in kitchen. Maybe it is my imagination but i think we had bugs in our bed too. I had a friend attempt to phone me a birthday greeting and he was rudley told that he cant be bothered to give me this message. I stayed there for 8 nights and upon leaving i was given a bill of 171.80 euros for lock repair by a red faced clerk who said i must pay but then presented a second bill for half (85.90 euros) There was a language barrier between the clerk and me so i paid . A very amateurish approach by this front desk manager. On a positive note, the free breakfast was good and they had good menu and food to serve but that is all the good things about Theresionhof hotel . It was cheap but i got what i paid for. I attempted to find another room in the immediate area but they were more expensive or booked.

  • Liked — good free breakfast and nice dining room with friendly dining room staff
  • Disliked — many bugs ( hundreds) and other insects in our room . Incompetent and plain rude front desk manager

We were very happy to stay at Hotel Theresienhof. After a late arrival in Munich, we were quickly picked up by the hotel shuttle.
Our room was large and comfortable and breakfast the next morning was delicious. The staff were very helpful and we would recommend to anybody who arrives at Munich airport and needs a convenient stay.

My family and I stayed in this hotel the night before our flight out of Munich. We had reserved 2 rooms for 5 people and upon learning that we had such a large group, the manager offered to upgrade us FOR FREE to the family apartment. With three bedrooms, we had more than enough space and were able to stay together. Knowing we wanted to relax, the staff offered us a selection of DVD's and anything else they could think of to make our stay comfortable. Accommodations were clean and comfortable, breakfast good and staff excellent.

The town of Hallbergmoos is a quaint, little community with a nice, rural feel to it. Not what you think of when you hear "airport hotel". I was expecting horrible scenery and sterile accommodations, but found it to be peaceful and lovely. We had dinner at a great little Italian restaurant within walking distance and loved it. Definitely would visit the town and hotel again!

Hotel staff was very helpful. We had an early flight from the Munich airport and had to be at the airport before they started their shuttle service. They not only started their service early, but left us to-go breakfasts in the room, since we would not be there for the breakfast. We booked a "family room", as we were traveling with a larger group and it was clean, comfortable and slept up to 12, all for one price. The room was also very easy to get to with all our luggage. Hotel had a good restaurant, nice outdoor area and free internet access. Highly recommend it!
