We spent 3 nights here to explore the Black Forest and although it was further away from the main tourist Black forest area than we had thought, it turned out to be a really good choice. Without satnav it would have been tricky to find but our trusty TomTom took us to the door. Bedecked with flowers, it was very welcoming with ample car parking. It really is a family affair with Mum and Dad running the place and Grandma and Grandad helping. They and the other staff were all very friendly and helpful although only the proprietor, Tomas, speaks good English. There are no lifts and no aircon but this wasn't a problem for us. Our room on the 2nd floor was spacious, spotless, comfortable and very pleasant in a traditional style. Breakfast was a delight-basically typical continental style but with local produce, very fresh and with soft bolied eggs in woolly-chicken egg-cosies-a nice touch. We had dinner there each night and the food was excellent although translating the German-only menu was a challenge. Our delightful waitress tried very hard and we had a good laugh getting the food sorted out! It's obviously a popular place to eat with the locals-a good sign. There is also a smallish patio area outside for drinks etc.
Tomas gave us some suggestions for places to visit along with a map and they all worked out brilliantlyl. In 3 days we covered most of the beautiful areas of the Black Forest with its gorgeous old towns and villages and overall we had a wonderful stay.
