“Still no good curry houses in the Chamonix valley”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

Gandhi is currently the best of a bad bunch of curry houses in the Chamonix Valley. Since Tigre Tigre closed down this is now the best option. The UK is spoilt with Indian restaurants and even average ones are acceptable.

First issue with the food here was the pappadums. They were of the microwaved type and got stuck in your teeth afterwards. The usual condiments were served alongside but portion sizes were small.

They serve Kingfisher beer which is always a pleasure although quite pricy at €5 for a 330ml bottle (plus it wasn't export strength). For my main course I had the Murgh tandoori selection to try and quench my Indian food cravings. It was served like prison food on a metal tray but most of the items tasted fine. The best part by far was the naan bread. If this restaurant just served naan breads I would still go here.

“Not the same as a UK curry house”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We went the this restaurant expecting a good curry. The views of the group were mixed, my personal view is this curry house is nowhere near the standard you would expect in the UK. The curry i ordered was bland and seemed to be packet rice. That said the nan bread was very good and is made fresh. I personally would not return.

“We went back for more!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

We stayed in Les Houches in January 2013 for 4 nights, and for 2 of those nights we went to Gandhi! It was that good! A relaxed family-friendly atmosphere, tasty and authentic food and fantastic value for money. The service was friendly and the naan bread delicious. Couldn't recommend it more!

“Does what it says on the tin!!! Very good!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

If you like well and freshly-prepared Indian food, friendly service, reasonable prices and tacky Indian decor then this is the place for you!
Simple, honest, unpretentious, clean environment - everything you need to enjoy authentic 'British style' Indian grub.
Unlike many Indian restaurants in France you can have well-spiced Indian food with all the trimmings (the Nan is home made) and enjoy a nice evening.

Pencil this place into your holiday agenda for the night you have had enough tartiflette, fondue or raclette!!!
