Spent three nights here in early Oct 2009. We had a nice room overlooking the harbour. The weather was beautiful and the resort was not too crowded. The only disappointment was the hotel restaurant which was extremely expensive for the average quality food we were served ... presentation at the expense of the quality of the ingredients and cuisine. I reckon the mark-up on the wine was about 500%. Once was enough. Having said that, the restaurant was busy throughout our stay. However, we found a great little cafe right on the quay side that served (with enthusiasm) wonderful seafood and salads at what felt like a third of the cost of the meal at the Hotel de la Tour.
Oh, if you stay here, check your bill carefully!
And only go into Marseille if you are prepared to be robbed. Do not, I repeat do not, believe anything you read about the city having cleaned up it's act!!!
