We booked our stay at the DiMario at the last minute. Another website said that this hotel is "new." It is not new, judging by the (literally) peeling wallpaper and the stained carpet. Our room was one floor above the reception area and restaurant, and we could hear everything from the restaurant until quite late at night on the Saturday night of our stay. The bathroom was adequate -- in fact, I will mention that this hotel had the best towels that we found at any hotel in Bulgaria -- but, like other Bulgarian hotels, there was a sewer odor emanating from the bath. The bed was not particularly comfortable, and our non-smoking room (with non-smoking sign on the door) included an ashtray for our convenience.
We booked our stay through an online vendor. When we arrived, the front desk quoted us a lower price. Not to worry -- they collected the difference in the morning. At the lower price, the hotel was passable. At the higher online price, we paid far too much for what we received. If you are going to stay here, be sure to book directly with the hotel to get the best price, and bring your earplugs.
