“Great Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Nice place for the family stay. Clean beautiful, organised and not expensive. Friendly personel. We stayed for 10 days. Internet and local trips booking available to nearby attractions. Air bus and train ticket service available. Good food. Nice garden with huts and rooms in it. Prise range 350-700 per night. Highly recommend. Nice clean beach with not too many parties around. Place to rest and enjoy.

We stayed at Nirvana for eight days and we absolutely loved it. The manager, Manu was particularly helpful and we will never forget his generosity in opening early to let us into to a room at 07:00 after having spent a few hours on the beach waiting for somewhere to open.
The location is excellent being right on the beach. The rooms are very comfortable and clean and such good value at only 700 rupees a night. The room are set in a beautiful garden which is lit up at night. We ate every meal in the restaurant and cannot rate the food highly enough for quality, quantity and value. Probably the best chunky chips outside of the UK.
Thank you to everyone there including the travel man who assisted in our onward journey.
We will be back without a doubt.

We stayed here for four nights 21st to 24th February 2014. It is excellent value with the most chilled restaurant of all the places we visited. Music supplied by guests or Suresh. The accommodation is set in pretty grounds with an avenue of trees and flowers dividing the two halves. There are at least three types of accommodation - bamboo huts, concrete "bungalows" and a wooden house. We stayed in the concrete semi detached bungalow with electricity @ Rs750 per night, with balcony two chairs, fan, mosquito net bed cover and ensuite cold shower toilet and basin. The bed was concrete, the mattress two inches of coconut matting so it was one of the hardest beds ever, but they may not all be the same. All the windows were mosquito proof so with an electric mossie killer we dispensed with the heavy bed net contraption - not your standard ceiling mounted net. The grounds were immaculate constantly swept and clean. It felt like paradise compared with many of the shoddier places we saw. For this reason you need to book your place with Suresh and confirm it two days before - we saw lots of people turned away and if you arrive as we did in the midday heat with big packs the treck across the first beach to Nirvana is a killer. Tip: tell the rickshaw driver to take you to the back of Om Shree Ganesh restaurant this is much closer and saves the massive concrete staircase at the entrance to the beach. We frequently ate in the restaurant including salad without any food poisoning - avoid the greasy deep fried things like "spring rolls" and the "sandwhiches" (toasted mashed potato and veg with maybe cream cheese). Best dish veg thali. Breakfasts great. Totally recommended.

Room Tip: Get whatever you can - the concrete bungalows were the quietest and most secure places we stayed.

My husband Matt and I stayed this year in January 2014, the manager Manu was brilliant he was so helpful and kind and really makes his guests feel at home!
We arrived at a very busy time on a special festival but we were still able to get a lovely en suite room after a short wait! The whole of Nivarna is kept so clean even the shared bathrooms and toilets where cleaned regularly!
The restaurant serves some good dishes and the sunset views from there and the chilled ambience is wonderful definately the best affordable place to stay in Om beach and maybe in Gokarna too! Thanks Manu for a lovely stay. Liz and Matt x

hi,

we were here at the end of february 2014, spent 4 nights, first night in a hut, where we shared the wall with two others and the balcony was split in two. the noise was terrible loud, you could hear every siongle word, also, the noises from the other toilet.
next day, we could change into an own hut, which was really good.
we enjoyed the good international food: you should taste sizzlers, very special
the waiters were friendly which isn't normal in india. you can wash your clothes there and book the train, bus to your next trip, the personal staff really helps you to find out the best way to get around.
the only thing is that if you like alcohol, and not beer, you have to go to gokarna to get some wine or other stuff to drink in the evening..
we really enjoyed it after being in goa, what we didn't appreciate the whole night playing that stupid goa music, in om beach its quite and calm, nearly no music or just nice, soft and chilly music !
so have a nice stay !

Room Tip: we stayed first in e hut shared the balcony with others... best is to get your own hut, no noises f...

The huts are clean and well kept, in the shade of a nice garden.
The bed was not so comfortable.
The food was not so good, but the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. We paid 600 Rs the night.
Staff was friendly and helpful.
There's wifi in the restaurant but you have to pay (30 Rs./hr) for it.
It seemed one of the better accommodation options in Om beach, together with the Om Ganesh Cafè.

This place is amazing. It's a step back to late 80's / early 90's unspoilt beach life...nothing to do but enjoy the hospitality of the nirvana team, experience proper authentic local cuisine and sit on a pristine beach. We stayed for 7 nights, in a hut with toilet & shower for 700rp per night. The room was clean, the bed comfy (comes with fully functional mosi' net) and very secure (having said that you never felt under threat in this area of Southern India) The wifi works well, laundry is done on site the same day, there's a travel desk to help with train times, trips to jog falls etc. As for food it is amazing, the menu is extensive & the kitchen will prepare anything you want and produce dishes which would not be out of place in 4* western city restaurants, put it like this Om beach has around 10 places to eat....we never left Nirvana as it was so good (& other people we chatted to agreed as they told us it was the best by far) And then there's the team lead by Manu. They were the most friendly, funny, helpful people we met in India. It's an overused phrase but this team cannot do enough for you....why can't the human race all be like them? The world would be a better place!!
I'm not going to go into anymore detail as I could carry on extolling the virtues of this place & bore you all.......just stay here and you won't be disappointed.
So thank you Manu & the rest of the team, you made me realise there's still places in the world that care & gave me an experience I will hold dear forever.....I can't thank you all enough
PS as Nirvana was fully booked our first night we stayed at Namaste cafe, ok but not a patch on Nirvana (& double the price!)
