“Still the very best country retreat on the island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

We were interested to see Ambelikos listed in The London Times newspaper's travel section under '20 great rural stays in Cyprus'. Ambelikos is not only a great country retreat - it's the best! Sadly The Times concentrated on the sporting facilities, mountain biking, paragliding etc., and the activities for the fit and able. Not one mention of the Stannah stairlift linking the carpark with the restaurant, the special disabled-friendly room and general carefulness for people with walking difficulties. Owner Akis gets top marks on every Trip Advisor review for going out of his way with hospitality, food, special requests; he's a star. This visit we were surrounded by his family for Oxi Day but still nothing was too much trouble. We understand new staff arrive soon and there are plans for developing the restaurant. Still have to say; no professional chef could have improved on the fresh trout Akis produced for our lunch. Magnifique!

Room Tip: Top floor rooms (13 - 17)are accessed from car-park and within easy reach of the stairlift to courty...

This year was our 2nd group visit to Ambelikos. Last year we thought it couldn't get much better but then this year we surpassed that. Twenty-five people in 14 rooms can't be wrong!
The owner, Akis, and his staff are dedicated to making guests at Ambelikos welcome and comfortable. It seems that nothing is too much trouble for him.
Thank you Akis for a memorable stay. You have made some lifelong friends in our group.

It's been a while since we've been to Cyprus. We travelled Pafos and Troodos and the Ambelikos AgroHotel was our choice to spend some time there. And it could not have been be any better! The AgroHotel is a picturesque place renovated from it's owner. The rooms are clean with a great view, the dining area is within a romantic patio. The owner was a great host and very helpful rergarding to everything around our stay. I can absolutely recommend this place not only for couples but for everyone who is looking for a unique place and some relaxing time in the mountains.

Wow what a weekend stay, this place is amazing, such a beautiful location with a stunning view, and the hotel itself was great the room looked brilliant the furniture was great giving the place such an authentic feel. The owner was great very helpful, provided us with maps and telling us about the local area, where is great to go and see and even some local walks that you can do if you don't have a car. He went out of his way to help us, he even gave us a lift to the bus station when we checked out. The food was amazing, we enjoyed the dinning experience so much. The starters where great and the mains where beautiful the fish was a must try dish perfectly cooked and beautifully presented!

Thank you so much for an amazing weekend.

We recently had my Aunt over visiting us in Cyprus. Every time she visits we try to book an overnight stay some where different. So looked at various places and chose the Ambelikos Agrohotel. The journey there is no mean feat! The last half a mile is a single track up a mountain face. When we went in September work was being carried out to shore up the face of the mountain. It was passable with care!
The hotel itself is an authentic traditional Cypriot house complete with a courtyard which is so full of different objects you can sit there for hours just looking.
The food and hospitality is very good, and the rooms are spotlessly clean.
Our room had a four poster bed, a large fireplace and a wonderful babies cradle!
The balcony has a magnificent view over the mountain side.
The hotel boasts a swimming pool and a spa area. However the spa was not in use whilst we was there, and the pool very cold.
So to sum the stay up, I would say the hotel is a wonderful getaway place with a warm welcome and very romantic. However, if you are wanting a place where you can perhaps go for a stroll after dinner think again. It is so isolated once you have arrived you just have to stop there. I must stress though that was not a negative for us, the peace and tranquility was just what we needed. Thank you for our lovely stay Akis.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have jacuzzi baths, for which you pay extra, we had a look at two of them. One of...

Stayed for a night to this remarkable place in late July. First of all, the setting is awsome! As Ampelikos is practically "hanging" from the mountain you can imagine that the view is fantastic. Go to enjoy the sounds of nature, the cool climate of Troodos and the great landscapes.
Moreover the food is yummy and fresh, we had dinner and breakfast and were absolutely pleased. Especially enjoyed the "Ampelikos style" scrambled eggs with mushrooms.

Last but not least, Mr Akis, the owner is everywhere in this place, fullfiling your every wish...He is a good businessman with great tips to offer to his guests.

We will sure get back!
