“Very nice accomodation in Tekapo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2011

I spent one night in April in one of the one bedroom villas. I really think that Peppers does themselves a disservice by not providing more photographs of the villas on their website, because the rooms are really nice. The villa was two stories tall with a large kitchen and living area on the first floor and the bedroom and bathroom on the second floor. Both floors had decks with views of the lake. The decor was tasteful and the villa was very clean. The walls were a bit scuffed from guests bumping them with bags, but that is a minor detail. The kitchen included a dishwasher and a range of dishes and utensils. The living area had a large television which included a 5.1 surround sound system which was a nice touch, but all of the speakers were placed in a row. The bedroom also had a television. But, you probably wont use either since the Tekapo area is so beautiful that you will probably want to spend most of your time outside.

I found the service at Peppers to be excellent. Checking in and out were both very easy.

I definitely enjoyed my stay at Peppers Bluewater Resort. It is more expensive than other accommodation in the area, but the views, the great villas and the service are what you are paying for.

The place is modern and nice...
Booked a standard room... Amongst all the places I have booked, this is the smallest room ever that I have stayed in NZ. There's really no place for my luggage... And to top it off the bed that was given to us was actually 2 single mattress combined up. We can feel the spring poking up on our back. Really didnt expect a 5 star resort to provide us with such a mattress.

Service from them was good!

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your recent stay at Peppers Bluewater Resort. The Hotel Room that you booked is our smallest room and we have many other types of rooms that might have been more suitable for your needs. In regards to the beds I have spoken to our Mainenance Manager to look into the spring issue and get this replaced. iam sorry your experience was not our usual standard and we do hope you give us the oppurtunity to welcome you back to enjoy our resort in the future.

What an amazing location,
The rooms in the hotel were more like small apartments than hotel rooms. Spacious, full kitchen, huge bathroom and very comfortable.
Walking distance to everything in Tekapo (it's not a big place really)
The best thing about the room was the view. If you go make sure you get a lake view room. Sitting on the balcony the view across the lake is amazing. Makes a great break from the city when that is your view.

Room Tip: Get a lake view room.

We were very fortunate that we had a penthouse room with a beautiful view of Lake Tekapo. However, there are quite a few rooms with no real view of the lake.
We had to carry all of our luggage up 3 flights of stairs, after carrying them quite a ways from the car in the parking lot. There was no offer of help from the front desk people. We ate in their restaurant on Sunday for the brunch and it was quite good. Very nice selection and the buffet was clean and well stocked. We had a lot of trouble with the wifi connection here, although to be honest, I don't know how much control the hotel had over this. There is a wifi subscription that we signed up for which did not work at all. The front desk people just gave us a phone number to call which didn't help because it was a Saturday and the technical department was only open M-F. Normally, this wouldn't have been a big deal but my this trip was partially business and my wife had some important communications she needed to get done..
All in all, I would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Lake Tekapo. If you do, I recommend asking for a top floor room that faces the lake. Also, ask for the buildings closest to the main road. Normally you wouldn't do this but the rooms in these buildings are the only ones with unobstructed views of the lake and they are far enough away from the road that road noise is not an issue.

Room Tip: 3rd floor facing lake and building closest to road

This is the first accommodation we stayed in when we arrived in NZ and it proved to be a great start for our trip! Our group of 4 chose the 2 bedroom apartment and it was a 1 bedroom apartment plus a standard room. The standard room had no views and was rather small but it was good enough for a 1 night stay. The 1 bedroom apartment had the bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor while the living and kitchen area was on the 2nd floor. The bathroom in the 1 bedroom apartment was huge! We were very happy to see the huge bathtub and 3 of us took turns to soak ourselves in it! It's the most expensive accommodation that we had for our trip and although it is very clean and comfortable, we probably would not have chosen it if not for the fact that the accommodation we wanted was fully booked.

The resort is probably the place to stay in Tekapo, unusual layout means you need a map to find your way from reception to your room, then depending on your room you may have a hike to it as parking isn't reserved and can fill up. Also if you stay in the rooms with the best view you have 3 flights of stairs to get up to it. The rooms are nice and spacious with a nice view across the lake. But being in this spot also means you're close to the road which can have a fair bit of traffic through the night. Overall happy with the stay but may consider other options if in the area again.

We stayed here 2 nights, first night in what is called a "hotel" room - although very clean and new it was extremely small. You could live with that for one night, but not the very noisy exhaust fan from the other room above you. The next night was in a one bedroom apartment, which was extremely comfortable. Loved it. Good facilities.Beds in both rooms were good.
