“Absolutely disgusting”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 10, 2012

Heater not on, window open, despite us calling to say we will be late. - sprinkler leaking - toilet flowing - moldy bathroom tiles But the worst 2 things: The Drain In The Shower Blocked With Hair And Who Knows What Else- But The Blood On The Duvet Cover Was The Worst!!!!! No apology given when they where told about all of the above.

Room Tip: My tip: Do Not Stay At The Godley

After reading the trip advisor reviews AFTER we'd booked, we were down right scared about our upcoming stay. But here's what we found:
Pros: cheapest option for 2 adults, 2 kids in town (we booked on Wotif), staff were friendly and very accommodating, handy to town, clean, warm, basic but functional, big and warm communal lounge to watch rugby with other guests.
Cons: tatty bathroom, roll-together bed, abit noisy (when in downstairs room), sliding door didn't lock (but fixed with bit of wood by owner!).
It's not flash, but I'd stay there again rather than pay an extra $100 a night just for a place to sleep.
The owner did say they were in the process of doing it up. Watch this space I guess.

Room Tip: Upstairs might be quieter!

I could write a story of how we found this hotel but a list is easier.
- dated decor (possibly from Noahs Ark)
- cracked tiles in bathroom
- cigarette melt marks in bathroom basin
- 2 temperature options in shower, freezing or boiling (no in between)
- shower head height for a dwarf
- electric jug power point didn't work
- double bed with maximum roll together
- bed spread worn through
- brick and mortar walls
- noisy doors screaching then slamming
- photos on Godley website aren't a true indication of what you get
- prices too high for the quality of this hotel

We were booked for 2 nights, cancelled second night (when the lady behind desk quoted that "The Hotel has WARTS!") and booked in elsewhere and was very happy so recommend that you look elsewhere.

Room Tip: Put this hotel last on your list of where to stay then rip it off your list and forget it exists

booked a standard room online for $95, was all good went to check in ladies were friendly which was a good start she gave us our key and went off to our room. First impression was a dingey outdated cardboard icebox, checked the room out the bathroom tap was leaking into a cracked calcium built up sink, the shower bottom was all cracked then checked out toilet to find it had not been cleaned at all, rung reception and they upgraded us to lakeview room was much nicer only issue i had with this room was the decor, cracks in walls, wallpaper peeling and the bath tap when turned on the hot & cold at same time boiling hot water leaked from cold faucet, bed was way too small &there were stains on the bedspread. Dinner was mediocre, the steak was really thin and over cooked, the tomatoes in the salad were old. Went to settle bill after dinner and receptionist tried to charge us $125 for accomodation because we got upgraded (their fault for not cleaning the room properly) soon put her in her place. Would have to be the worst place ive ever stayed at.

Room Tip: Dont go for standard or budget rooms go for lakeview room, check room thoroughly.

Soft double bed.
TV, fridge, jug, bathroom.
VERY dated decor.
VERY noisy front room (noise from adjoining rooms and from highway).
Pretty lukewarm welcome, more transactional than interactional.
A very uninviting bar (minus 5 outside but no fire lit) and restaurant (menu direct from 1978).

But...
$85 for a basic room.
Right next to a few decent bars and restaurants (if you like Japanese, you can't miss Kohan).

Probably would shell out $15 more next time and stay at Peppers.

The room was clean & had an awesome view, great location. However the bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows were lumpy! Yuk! The shower was pathetic and quite disappointing. Won't book here again

Room Tip: take your own pillow!

Should have heeded the warnings on trip advisor! We were tired and needed a bed for the night and often its hard in the dark to locate accommodation when you arent familiar with the area. The room was old and dated, the bed was a shocker and the bathroom was old and shabby. I guess it was clean it just felt old musty and dated. Would I stay again - not a chance! The up side was we were 10 metres to a fantastic italian restaurant called 'Geppes' ! Its a really pretty area and theres a great cafe up next to the service station to have breakfast but do your research and find a better place to stay.
