“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We had a wonderful stay at Lake Tekapo Lodge. We were upgraded to the Tekapo Room which had a beautiful view of the lake. Staphanie and Alistair made us feel very welcome from the time we pulled up until we left. The lodge has a lovely guest lounge were we could have a glass of wine in front of the fire before we went to dinner. Alistair cooked the most amazing meal for us and the best lemon tart we have ever had, breakfast was also very enjoyable, just a shame we couldn't eat it all. We will difinately recommend the lodge and are already looking at going back sooner than later.

Many thanks for the lovely review and really pleased you enjoyed your dinner in front of the fire...
And also thank you so much for the beautifully fresh salmon! Look forward to seeing you both again soon. Cheers

Hosts were welcoming and knowledgeable despite having been there only a short time.
We were upgraded to a room with a view as it was not occupied even though it was high season and they could have sold the more expensive room fairly easily on the day.
Fantastic views from the room and at breakfast.
We had an additional member of our party who was staying at another (less nice) accommodation, he was welcomed and joined us at dinner.
Dinner was delicious and not even spoiled by the incessant Jame Cullum music.
Over all a really professional and friendly B+B.

lake tekapo lodge is just the perfect place to stay! Great location to view the blue lake..
The lodge would not be this perfect without Stephanie and Alistair. They have made our stay wonderful. Stephanie decorated the lodge
beautifully and Alistair cooked the best omelette!!!! I will definately recommend lake tekapo lodge and i will come back for sure!

Wow thanks Maggie - thrilled you enjoyed our lodge experience! You must both come back again to see what we've done.... after August! NZ isn't too far away and book dinner next time. Would love to see you. Cheers, Stephanie

Lake Tekapo Lodge is a treat for all the senses!

The decor throughout is a an extremely clever fusion of contemporary New Zealand art, English and French antiques and sumptuous soft furnishings. Stephanie most definitely has an incredible talent with interior design. It looks amazing as is, but Stephanie has plans for new wallpapers, carpet and bathrooms.... I guess I'll just have to come back for another visit once it's done!

Alistair's talent is evident in the kitchen - he whips up cooked breakfasts which leave many Kiwi cafes in the dust. For a real taste of New Zealand fine-dining, request a dinner - you're likely to have local salmon, venison or lamb. Delish!!

Both Steph and Al are natural hosts providing total five-star hospitality with warm, down-to-earth delivery. Will be recommending this to one and all for a truly five-star boutique accommodation experience.

Cheers Adele! So thrilled you "get" us - we are a bit different in our style but I guess that reflects our personalities. It is a real pleasure to share our beautiful and precious art and furnishings with appreciative guests. From your other reviews of Tekapo it sounds as if you really did enjoy your Mackenzie experience - come back for more! bit of a cold snap at the moment but the light and vistas amazing.... and I'm ploughing through that firewood! We loved our night at Lake Tekapo Lodge. We were Stephanie & Alistair's only guests on the night we were there, and they upgraded us to a lake view room. The bed was sublime - large, comfortable and lovely bedding. The room was decorated to a very high standard with lots of lovely kiwi art on the walls. Breakfast was probably the best I've ever eaten in a B&B.

Stephanie & Alistair were fabulous hosts, and even provided dettol and plasters for when my husband fell over on his morning run. They also made an excellent recommendation for our evening meal and made reservations for us. It turned out too that Stephanie, having worked in the wine trade previously, knew people in common with me (even though we're from London), which makes the world a very small place indeed!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful night or two away in beautiful Tekapo. You will definitely enjoy your stay if you book here.

Suberb Hosts
Lake Tekapo has a world class night sky and a pleasant hike but what makes the place worht a visit is Lake Tekapo Lodge. We arrived tired by bicycle and Stephanie and Alister did everything to make our stay a high point of our trip from driving us to the hike start point to offering us the use of their laundry facilities. Book ahead and ask for dinner at the lodge to avoid disappointment. The gourmet dinner they served was the best we had in NZ. Breakfast is also wonderful at the lodge. After two nights we were revived and felt we were leaving old friends. Our room and the others we viewed were all uniquely and beautifully furnished. Everywhere you looked in the lodge you saw interesting and beautiful things and beautiful.

Great to hear from you George and Joni - our intrepid cyclists! You must come back and ride the Alps to Ocean (A2O) route from Mt Cook to Oamaru. It is fantastic and very popular already with it being officially opened only last month. Many thanks for the lovely review and we hope we might see you one day in Calgary?Cheers Stephanie

Excellent stay at the Lake Tekapo Lodge due to the exceptional location and warm weather but mainly due to the hospitality, enthusiasm and local knowledge of the new owners Stepahanie and Alistair. Updating of the rooms will only enhance the facilities of the Lodge.

Thank you for your review but I can't work out who you are from your anonymous name! A mystery shopper? So many lovely guests, so little time when they check out each day! So pleased you enjoyed your stay and the lodge. Stephanie
