“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

wanted to do a helicopter flight over the glaciers and land on the snow, however the day we were there was some bad weather on its way. called in the air safaris office and a delightful woman at the desk said that they were still flying but had a 6 seater airplane. My partner was a bit apprehensive as she doesn't like small aircraft but was convinced to do it. The lady arranged for us to fly within a couple of hours and off we went to the airport. The guys at the airport and the pilot were really helpful and informative, the pilot gave us a running commentary thoughout and pointed out all the major sites including the franz josef and tasman glaciers and we circled round mount cook as well, there was a bit of turbulence but hell the views and experience will stay with us forever.I believe it is a family run business and if so I would recommend anyone passing through lake tekapo to book this flight. Once again I would like to thank all the staff for a wonderful time.

“Awesome!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

With NZ weather not playing the game for nearly three weeks we waited until the end of our trip to try and get a flight happening. Arriving at Lake Tekapo the weather was promising, but not guaranteeing clear skies so the pilot offered the opportunity to still go up on a fly now and pay later, thus if the flight is shortened due to the weather, a lesser fare cost. Taking off in the Cessna Caravan on the Grand Traverse flight was smooth and scenery over Tekapo stunning. As usual the clouds hung around the glaciers in the southern alps but we still got a smashing view of mount cook, but missed out on flying over the Fox and Franz Josef glaciers. We still got the full 50min flight time and got awesome views, but they still offered a discount for missing out on a couple of sights, even though there is no control over the weather! Wow what a company! Best customer service, highly recommended

“Rob and Sheena's trip of a lifetime”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

Wow! This was the most amazing experience! Scenery stunning. Pilot was excellent and very pleasant and informative. This was on our to-do list before we left Scotland. On arrival at Tekapo camp site, when we enquired about the flights, the receptionist told us weather forecast for next day was dreadful (and it was right). She phoned Air Safaris and an hour later we were up in the air. As you can see from photos it was very clear. Worth every penny!

“Amazing flight - well worth the wait”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

I'd booked The Grand Traverse flight well in advance but due to bad weather had to wait until my last morning in Tekapo. Mother Nature turned on a stunner. Fresh snow and flying saucer shaped clouds over Mt Cook.
I was first to the airfield for that flight and chatting to the pilot received an invite to sit in the front next to the pilot.
The commentary is really good - especially as we did the flight in reverse order from the brochure. All the staff are friendly and extremely professional.
The pilot gives great photo advice - don't try and line up a perfect shot. If you have a digital camera just keep clicking.

“What a thrill!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

These guys are TOP NOTCH. Although I was traveling alone and it was a slower day at the airport meaning that it was difficult to meet the minimum to make a flight feasible, they appreciated my patience and we worked out a concession that made everyone happy... for the flight of a lifetime! How cool is it to swoop over the Tasman, Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers? What could be better than watching the sunset on Mt Cook... from the cloud line!
Highly professional outfit, very informative, extremely positive, and the only thing I could possibly say in terms of criticism is... how about 5x as long :-) 50 minutes felt like 5.
Thank you all!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a great review! We are delighted you had such an enjoyable flight, and we now have video footage of your flight playing in our terminal building, such amazing lighting! We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip as much as your Grand Traverse flight :).
