We stayed at this hotel in April of 2005, one night, continuing onto Antigua the next AM and I was 6.5 months pregnant. We really were just needing a place to stay, and thought that we didnt care where. When we arrived it was after 10P at night and the entry was locked with a gate. Check in was easy and we were shown to our room. We didnt have much luggage as mine was lost on the way in. So here I am pregnant no luggage, just my carryone and clothes I had one. The room is very very plain, with painted cement block walls, lanolium floors, antiquated air conditining, and terrible shower/bath pressure. We just didnt get a good feel of the place especially at night. The girl at the desk was nice but spoke broken english and not too helpful. I needed to find fip flops as I only had small heeled sandles. She pointed to the road, and luckily we found our way to Walgreens and located some fiipflops. I believe that the cost for this room was $130ish after taxes, it is not worth half that. I would only pay maybe 40 bucks a night for this place. If youo dont care about anything nice and really do just want a place to stay it may be for you but for the price you can get something much better for the same or a little more. The area is probably fine, there was a lot around, but I wouldnt recommend the Borinquen Beach Inn.

“Very Convenient!”

We stayed at this inn for 13 days. We chose this spot mainy for it's convenient location. It is located in the heart of Isla Verde near all the major hotels, casinos, restaurants, and the beautiful beach; all within walking distance. The price for the stay was unbeatable too!
There was plenty of free gated parking in the rear of the inn. Entry to the hotel was very secure through a gated door with a buzzer to let you in. There was also a walkway to the beach The total time to walk to the actual beach was only about two minutes!
The inn was very plain and is entirely on one floor. Our room, #112, was quite small. It kind of felt like we were in a basement the whole time. The view from the window was of a brick wall. The bed was ok and the room was air conditioned so we sleeped very comfortably. The bathroomed looked updated and was nicely tiled and clean. Towels and toilet paper were readily available. There was one kitchen/dining area with fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, etc. Next to that was a small lounge area whith a table and chairs and free wireless internet!
The staff was for the most part friendly. We arrived earlier then our check in time, but the manager got us in a room as soon as one became available. They also held our bags while we patrolled the near by beach as we waited for the room. The cleaning ladies were very polite and did a decent job cleaning the room. We did drag in a lot of sand but the floor always felt clean when they were done! The one big problem we had was water pressure or lack there of. Some times it was good, some times it was awful!
Directly accross the street is a car rental station, Charlie's Car Rental. Directly next door is the Water Club. The street is a very busy street, Isla Verde Avenue, and was energetic all night long. A 15 to 20 minute drive gets you to Old San Juan. A 5 minute drive gets you to the airport. The airport, though close by, did not create a noise problem. But it was far from a quiet location with all the action in the area. The Water Club had it's music blasting through the night. I loved it but some might not feel the same. The was a nearby grocery store to help with the odds and ends.
As long as you don't expect luxury, Borinquen Beach Inn is an ideal choice for the money. The location and price is it's best attribute. I would stay here again if the situation called for it. Make sure you book online to get the best price!

Just back from 8 days in this great Inn. The staff are what really makes this hotel so special, they just cant do enough for you and are one of the most pleasant we have ever encountered in any hotel.

We stayed at room 111, the room was great and clean. On one evening we went over to the Ruth Chris for a meal and while the food was very good the service was not up to the same standard as the as in Chicago. We went on the boat trip around the coast, organised from the hotel, this is well worth the money, as you get to see El Morro Castle.

We booked a return trip before we left for next year and cant wait to get back with our children next time.

“It's 1.5 star hotel and the owner increases the price when booking directly.”

The hotels ok and it's close to the beach. Our room was on the south, although there’s a fair amount of traffic noise the air condition drowned it out and we slept well. Our friends were on the north side and they were kept awake by a band in the hotel next door.

We ended up booking directly with the hotel and paid about $25 dollars more; the staff argued that the internet rate and rates in the brochure were out of date. Since we were only their one night it wasn’t worth arguing about, but we were fairly discussed with the attitude. The staff noted that the owner was that way; didn’t hire enough help and wouldn’t put any money into fixing the hotel. The hotel is about a one and half to two star hotel and I have to agree with the staff’s assessment. It was right on track.

We stayed one night, but due wouldn’t stay here again. If you do stay don't book directly with the hotel, or you'll end up with a higher rate.

Needing a room for the night prior to my early morning flight home from Puerto Rico, I stayed at the Borinquen Beach Inn. The inn's location is unquestionably one of its best features. A mere 5 minutes from the airport and directly across the street from a rental car agency. It is also located near plenty of shops and restaurants. A short walk down an alley between the inn and its nearest neighbor brings you to the lovely beach in Isla Verde. The hotel itself is definitely for the budget-minded. The rooms are rather small and spartan, and don't expect a room with a view. But, the rooms are kept clean, and the staff is helpful and friendly. I would certainly consider staying there again if I needed a room for a night in San Juan at an attractive price.
