“Borinquen Beach Inn April , 2012”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

My 20 year old son and my 18 year old daughter, her boyfriend and myself stayed at this hotel prior to leaving for a cruise and upon our return. The hotel is clean and reasonably priced. There is a fully equipped kitchen and pleasant sitting area with WiFi access. The hotel is within close proximity to the beach, only a few minutes walk from a nice path at the side of the hotel. It does border on a rather run down section of the town if you turn to the right . If you head left, you will find upscale resorts and casinos as well as good dining. Farther along that route you will come to Carolina and Pinones which have lovely beaches and a Caribbean flair. The hotel is next to a Club, and that can create noisy weekend evenings. I also found the noise of the road on which it is located to be distracting due to high traffic. I would suggest getting a room toward the beach side of the property rather than the front of the building. For the price, good service, cleanliness ,proximity to the beach and airport, this hotel cant be beat.Do be aware that hot water may run out! I suggest taking a shower in the morning.

Its all about location all you do walk down the side path and you are on the beach there are also places to eat and have a beer while you watch the waves the rooms are very clean bad part is no hot water and my friends and family stayed in 4 different rooms the girls at the desk are very helpful and friendly but the manger John was very rude and if I owned the hotel I would fire him we will stay there again even with no hot water it is worth it.

I have stayed at the Borinquen twice now, both times in January of this year. If you're looking for the cushy amenities of a beach resort, go elsewhere. If you're looking for a clean, cheap place to sleep, stay here.

The Borinquen is a tiny little place nestled in amongst the huge resorts on Isla Verde. The location is great; a 60 second walk gets you to the beach. Parking is free, which is excellent. Rooms are about half the price of anything else on Isla Verde. Beds are comfortable, and bathrooms are clean. There's a community kitchen where you can store leftovers in the refrigerator or make yourself breakfast if you like (there's a grocery store not far away).

Rooms range from small and crowded to large and roomy (I have seen/stayed in 4 of the rooms now).

There are not as many "amenities" in the room as the bigger hotel chains offer. No little bottles of shampoo or lotion; a few bars of soap and some water glasses are all you need. They do have cable TV, and the air conditioner in the room works well.

Definitely a good choice if you'd like to stay on the beach for a fraction of the cost.

Room Tip: If you're booking a double room, see if you can request Rm 111. It's HUGE and beautiful. I...

My wife and were looking for someplace reasonable for a four day stay in San Juan, close to everything and the airport included. We took a Taxi from Ponce on Sunday, and our driver suggested the Borinquen Beach Hotel. We arrived in the afternoon, and were greeted by "Grace" the hotel clerk. She was very friendly and helpful, since we were early for check in, she put our luggage in her office, and chatted with us for a while. Once we were checked in, we were shown to our room, the best in the house according to Grace. It was spacious, clean, and the beds turned out to be quite comfortable, with plenty of hot water. We would for sure stay again in the future. The manager, Jorge was also very helpful and friendly. Also, the beach was about a half block away!, and very clean and pleasant.

Room Tip: If you are going to stay more than a few days, the common kitchen is great for making snacks and kee...

We stayed at Borinquen 1 night before our cruise. It's very close from the airport ( 5 min ) and close to ship terminal ( 10 min ). Rooms are clean, simple and it worked for us just to spend the night. Check-in was fast and easy. They have little kitchen if you wish to prepare light breakfast in the morning. The only thing you should be aware is the noise outside on the street. The hotel is located on pretty busy street and you can hear people and cars laud past mid-night. Did not bother us too much. However, it may bring inconvenience to people who sleep not that strong as we do.
Overall, if you don't expect anything special and you are on the budget this hotel is a very good choice for the money.

I visited PR during Thanksgiving break with my college roomate. I was on a budget and needed an affordable, clean, safe place to stay. It was infornt of a gorgeous beach and very centric (farmacy, restaurants, entertainment.) Despite being 2 girls in a hotel room we felt safe, there was staf 24/7 at the gated entrance. The hotel recomended we go to Bebo's Cafe for thanksgiving -- affordable yummy PRican food. Getting there was cheap too, 75 cents each way. Overall it was a good experience, definitely hope to return!
