There is very little good to say about the Karibea Clipper Hotel, which is part of the Hotel Karibea Salako Beach Resort. We were kept awake at night by excessively loud music from the bar until midnight. The quality of the breakfasts was appalling - dried out scrambled eggs (bacon on one day only and that was because we got there early), no toast, no salt and pepper. But the worst part was having to collect a breakfast tray (like being in a Macdonald's restaurant) and supposedly stack it away when breakfast was finished. However most people left their dirty trays on the tables and the lazy staff just left them there.
The buffet dinner poses a major health hazard. The food is put out at 7.30 and left uncovered to congeal and attract flies.
The entertainment was pathetic. Karioke music, amateur limbo dancers and the live music in the Salako hotel lounge featured a dua where the singer was not able to sing in tune. There were also lots of screaming children running wild around the music lounge and bar area.
The bedrooms are extremely basic - rather like a Novotel Accor Hotel.
There is an attractive beach. But don't even think about getting a beach towel on a Sunday - they are not available.
The hotel next door, the Hotel La Creole Beach, looked much better. There was a lovely swimming pool, lots of water sports on the beach, a nice bar with great live music and a very pleasant ambiance.
If we ever visit Guadeloupe again we will stay at this hotel.
