Let's say that the brochure was much more beautiful than the hotel. Staff is ok, but that's it. Poor location, poor restaurant, unattractive beach, rooms which you can place in the category Ikea on sale. The island is beautiful when you explore it. But after a day of excursions (you have to do those, because you don't want to be too long in the hotel) it is a dissapointment to be back. Never again.

We reserved for a week stay through the hotel website (----), as you can have a free night (6 nights for the price of 7) or a scuba diving initiation for free (in this case you pay the 7 nights).
We chose this hotel because the Sofitel la Vieille Tour had some room renovated, and they could not lodge us the Wednesday (right in the middle of the stay, this would have obliged us to a lot of changes in terms of transportation and luggage)

Despite we were told that this was the best hotel after the vieille tour, it is really not to be compared. First of all, be very careful, it is not a hotel, it is a complex of hotels, so make sure you choose the right building (next to the restaurant and the pool), otherwise you could end up staying in a farther building which look like more to a 2 stars hotel that what you are paying for (4stars).

After some discussions with the reception guy, 10 minutes later a man will finally come to help you carry your luggage, as stairs will not allow you to use the wheels of your luggage.

In order to be in the right building, of course it is not the same price, we were asked to have our luggage ready at 8 AM. Coming back from the sea around midday, we discovered that our luggage were still in the previous room. Without going further in the explanations, the point is we had our luggage moved at 8 PM; you will understand how the service is.

The room of the good building is OK, we had a junior suite (if you can called it so) at the third level with a nice view on the beach. Do not go to bed too early as there is a band with music and games until quite late, which will not permit you to sleep. The animator propose some games and sports outside and in the pool during the day.

Talking about the beach, if you expect a long span of sand, do not go to this hotel. Indeed only a small area of sand is waiting for you.The good thing is that it is really clean (white sand, transparent sea). We did not especially appreciate that during the week end, many people, outside of the hotel were sited next to us, because they had a drink in the hotel or something which would allow them to access the beach.

The food and especially the breakfast is disappointing, with low quality products, fake coffee (machine-made with powder…) and it is rather quantity and help yourself that quality and service. Even the fruits are not so tasty. (we can imagine that on an island some products are difficult to get, but they have huge production of very tasty fruits that can buy in public markets (above all pineapples and bananas)). My husband reminds me that the lobster was frozen!

On the good part, we definitely suggest you take the massage on the sea shore,

The gosier is certainly the best place for the hotels in Guadeloupe, next to pointe a pitre and not so far by car to basse terre city (administrative). We also had a great dinner in the Marina (close to the harbor) with amazing "brochettes" on picks.

if you want to do something special, we would advise to do a one day excursion to the Saintes islands, full of history (battles between English and French and US freedom helped by the French), the pick up (boat) is close to Basse terre. If you look like a foreigner, or even me (French) they are proposing you 20 euros, (in spite it is written on their houses, 25 euros or so) and inside the boat you discover that a local man will only pay 15 euros…We do not know if it is possible to bargain.

To sum up, It is a definitely a place to laze on the beach, and soak up the sun, make sure you choose the right building, try other places for the food (the marina), remain cool and patient, and enjoy the massage!

We stayed at La Creole Beach for 10 days at the end of June and beginning of July. At first we were not impressed but as days passed we began to love the location by the coast with splendid views of the sea approaches to Pointe-a-Pitre and a 17th century fort on the grounds. The service was friendly and polite. Our room was comfortable, very clean and spacious. Importantly, the air conditioning worked well, a must in the hot weather of the island. Breakfast was very good. Other meals in the main dining room were mediocre. The small restaurant by the ocean is much better, though it has a limited menu. We tried the Ouassous (local crayfish) which are kept live in a tank and were tasty though not nearly as meaty as scampi. We visited other hotels in the island and La Creole compared favorably in terms of facilities and location. Its small beach is not our favorite and for that we went to Ste Anne, some 15 km East of the hotel. There is also a nice beach in Gossier about 1 Km away. La Creole's central location makes it convenient as a departure point for drives to both Grande Terre and Basse Terre. Many in the staff are conversant in English, though most guests were from francophone countries. French is of course quite useful when driving around to ask directions and go to restaurants and shops in the hinterland.

When I pay 160 euro @ night ($200 approx) I expect an efficient, clean and above average room/experience. Guess I should lower my expectations in Guadeloupe.
Booked the hotel thru the Tourism office in Point a Pitre after I arrived in Guadeloupe..... for the end of my two week visit in the area. The postings on trip advisor were mixed for so many hotels plus my first 3 choices were closed (low season).
I arrived for my two night stay @ approx 3:30pm after about 15 mins of watching total confusion at the front desk with phones ringing & the woman helping me run around in circles (I was the only guest waiting to check in with a few random questions from other guests passing by for two desk staff & a bellman).......I was told that my room was not ready. I was offered drinks in the bar while I waited. After sipping the cheap/bad tasting "free" drink I decided not to sip anymore.
When the room was "ready" I entered to a musty / moldy odor ............which never really went away...............and no towels in the room. In a tropical country, taking multiple showers is a daily ritual............so when the "towels" arrived, I was shocked to see only one towel & one face towel per guest. No wash cloth. I requested an additional towel from another maid in the hallway & began to conspire how I could get my hands on a whole cart of towels...............but they were guarded heavily & never visible on any maid cart.
The room was a "suite" as I was told that regular rooms did not have a King bed (a requirement in my request)...............it was not a King bed or comfortable......just the local trick of putting two double beds together & hoping you are stupid enough to not notice. I was told it would be a real King bed. If two chairs & a table make a "suite"...........then I guess I was in one.....otherwise it was an ordinary room.............with signs of wear (just like other parts of the hotel)...................the layout was attractive if you did not look close, the balcony was not big enough to stand on................and the view did not include a beach or anything attractive.
yes, the pool was large & the beach private / pleasant. The location is laid out well, the staff friendly, english was spoken at the front desk. The only reason this hotel has 3 or 4 stars locally is that so many other hotels are so bad in Guadeloupe. It would only get two stars in the states.
The air conditioning could not keep up with the heat of the day (never understand why in the tropics) & that musty smell is just one symptom of a poor system.
I did not use the restaurants at all (did not want to give anymore $$$ to this place) since I wanted to see surrounding area & traveled to Basse Terre too..........so I cannot comment. I did walk thru the dinner buffet one evening & there seemed to be a wide array of choices.
I would never stay here again based on high cost & low value...............
It would only take some simple improvements & attention to details to lift this place up to the 4 star level it advertises but not even close now.
