I have just returned from Luperon Beach Resort. And I have two words - NEVER AGAIN! If I can save anybody from the same fate, then this is truly worth it. I am having my email address published, because I have about 20 photos, which I would gladly share with anyone who cares to contact me.
The Staff was rude!
The food was awful!
The towels were non-existant as was the entertainment crew.
The beach was dirty, (condoms/ coffee cups etc.) - It was never raked while I was there
They ran out of ice by noon most days.
In the dining room (If you could call it that), the silverware was gone after about 45 minutes and plastic was put out. The only day that the food was actually edible, was (surprise/surprise) the day they handed out the evaluation forms. Strangely enough, the service improved that day as well, but went back to the same routine the next day. And now for the rooms.
Our first room overlooked the dump area where they burned the garbage and dumped all of the garden trash etc. The ceiling flooded, (through the electrical fixture in the ceiling). The toilet leaked from the bottom. The tub drain did not hold. The toilet roll was ripped off of the wall. The wall sconce was broken in the room and we had a bare lightbulb glaring out at us. I had to fight for two days to be moved (even though the hotel was half empty). The next room was even worse. The view was great, but our room only - had 6 power outages due to faulty wiring. We used more candles than a birthday cake. Also the floor in the bathroom was covered in 1/4 of water for about 4 days until they temporarily fixed the pipe in the toilet of this one.

I love the Dominican, and have been there 5 times. The people are usually great, and I have never had a single complaint about even less expensive vacations. All I can say is that this must be a hotel management issue and I am giving eveyone fair warning. Never go by the star rating, and ask for references. When you get one ask the person if they have any other experiences to compare it to. The only people that said they were not having a bad time, had never been anywhere else to compare it to and thought that this was what they should expect in the D.R. Not So! Also the kids who were partying on the beach all week didn't seem to mind. Nobody that I questioned (and it was extensive) indicated that they would come back to the Luperon Beach Resort.

Happy Travels!

Having just spent 2 weeks at the Luperon Beach Resort I can honestly say that you get what you pay for when it comes to holidays. I went as a late deal paying very little for the holiday, and that is exactly what you get. Looking round the resort you feel that it has so much potential to be a great resort but seems to be going downhill fast. You are aproached and pestered by people trying to offer you a free gift if you attend a meeting on the premises with them, but all they want is for you to sign up to buy a timeshare in the place. Locals also turn up at the weekends and treat the place with no respect, taking plates full of food from the restaurants out with them and making loads of noise. Cigars on sale in the shops are riddled with insects or damp. The shops also expect silly money for basic products. Overall, I went there on the cheap not expecting much & made the best of it by teaming up with a good bunch of people & having a fun time, but if you want luxury and relaxation, then book elsewhere!!

Anyone who has read the bad reports on this resort can feel at ease. We stayed at Luperon from 1 - 8 November, and it was lovely. OK i will agree that it is not a 5* resort, but for the money paid it was wonderful. Because we were there in the change of seasons, Summer to winter, the resort was fairly empty, this meant we had the pick of swimming pools - 4 to choose from - and loads of space on the beach, which is fabulous. Just be careful where you swim in the sea as there are a lot of coral reefs, with Sea Urchins. You need to go near the breakers where it is all sand.
The weather was fantastic, considering November is supposed to be the wettest month, we only had rain at night, but during the day we enjoyed blue skies, and brilliant sunshine, with water temperatures in the sea nearing that of bath water.
The food was excellent, and is often cooked in front of you so no concerns of it sitting out or not being fresh. Definitely try the Italian and Mexican restaurants.
The all inclusive facilities are also top notch, you'll only need money if you plan to buy souvenirs.
We did two of the trips recommended by Thomas Cook - the Monster Trust Safari - which was great fun - especially the water fights and swimming in a clear and clean river with its own beach. We also did the Yacht cruise to Paradise Island which I would highly recommend, although be prepared for a lot of climbing in and out of boats, and a very fast ride through the mangrove swamps on a speedboat, not for the faint hearted.
Our room at the resort was lovely, very clean with 2 double beds, and thankfully a very efficient air conditioner. Watch out for the mosquitoes though, they appear to be somewhat immune to most repellants, although Boot's after sun with insect repellant appears to work on all but the most persistent.
All in all, any one booked into this resort should be able to expect an enjoyable and relaxing holiday with great food, friendly helpful staff, and great weather. So enjoy.

We arrived at tropical luperon beach resort on the 2nd of october 2004.
My wife Margaret and I loved this resort, the staff were brilliant and could not do enough for us, at anytime, we travelled with first choice, and thier rep Thonny was first class, again nothing was too much trouble.
The food was great, there was plenty to choose from, salads, meats, something for everybody, we spoke to alot of people and nobody had an upset tummy the whole time we were there, so that should tell you that the food was great.
There were 3 swimming pools and the sea of course, 1 pool was for playing games and was very noisy, 1 pool played music all day, and the third pool was so quiet you could hear a pin drop, and the beach and sea was to die for, lots of shade and the all important beach bar, on the beach there was a mountain of sun beds (plenty for everybody) my wife had 2, 1 in the sun and 1 in the shade, the water sports that were included were brilliant, banana boat rides, wind surfing, sailing, snorkeling equipment, all for free, or of couse you could just bake in the sun.
The rooms were very basic, but they were clean, and after all we only used the room to have a shower and to sleep in.
Yes the locals did invade on a friday afternoon and then they left on sunday afternoon, it did get a bit more crowded at these times, what people seem to forget is that the local that do visit the resort arn't riff raff they are the well to do dominicans, buisness men, workers and the like, when people were complaining that the locals invaded the place at the weekend i had a picture in my mind that they were going to be scruffs and all sorts, instead they were smartly dressed human beings, they deserve a break too you know.
The resort location was a bit out of the way luperon town was 2.5km away a taxi was $8 return, We did not visit the town there was to much to do at the resort, this complex is massive.
We went on 3 excursions, outback safari, paradise island and ocean world.
what ever you do don't miss the outback safari it was brilliant, the rum was flowing and our guide was a nutter his name was ruddy, you must do this trip, let your hair down and go with the flow.
Paradise island was very good also but i will say if you don't snorkel then the trip was wasted, the fish are everywhere, there is a reef just off the island so many differnt fish to see and they take bread out of your hands (mind your fingers).
Ocean world is the place where you can swim with the dolphins it's a bit expensive but well worth it in my eyes, there is loads to do there, sea lion shows, shark encounter, tigers, tropical birds to feed, something for everybody.
We will visit this resort again, without a doubt. 10/10
