I came to this resort in 2008 and I was mostly surprised of how much of a great time I had! In February I was fortunate of great weather despite a couple of days of rain within 2 weeks. I came here with a friend and did plenty of excursions to see the country. A catamaran for £20 which included plenty of inclusive beer and a meal by the beach. A whole day out and all this fun for £20!!! Never in England! We even got to jump out of the Catamaran and swim for shore if you wanted to! i will never forget how relaxed everyone was here, the electricity is 120v so England appliances struggled to work. We also swam with dolphins (ocean world), went water rafting, scuba diving, visited a cigar factory.... the trips were amazing experiences!

The hotel was massive, I remember approx 6 swimming pools all pretty well sized, with entertainment around the pool and swim up bars. The buffet had plenty of delicious choice and never got bored! Staff were fun and helpful and this was a holiday I felt so depressed to leave. The hotel rooms were basic but as I did so many excursions, I only really slept in the room.

The beach was long, clean and beautiful. It was almost like it belonged to the hotel being right next to it. Plenty of sun lounges by the pool and beach to accommodate everyone. The evening entertainment was great and had some nights of Karaoke but the entertainment and hotel night club were good enough.

I was addicted to the hotels drink 'banana mama'! The best drink ever and I have not found one close to this since.

I flew here for two weeks with Thomas Cook and my rep was Rebecca who was so helpful. I paid £550 for 2 weeks all inclusive at this resort. I got more than my money's worth believe me!

I have such great memories of this resort, I am sad to hear reading other reviews that the resort has closed down??!!!! This place was sooo good, I am scared to return in case it ruins the best memories if my life.

Me and my friend went in 2008 was an amazing holiday food was great ! Rooms were clean. Entertainment was practically 24/7 . Would have so recommended it but sounds like it has gone way down hill :-( I hope the new owners make good of this hotel because it is situated it the most gorgeous place and the beach is amazing !

I'm sad to hear that Luperon Beach Resort has shut down. I travelled here when i was 16 with my family then returned at age 17 with my 3 best girlfriends, it was the first time we travelled together without parents ( how we managed that i have no clue! LOL) That was 21 years ago!!! and to this day me and my friends still reminiss and look at old pics of that trip and have good laughs about all the fun and crazy things that went on during our 2 week trip there. Back Then Luperon was just a small resort....maybe 250 rooms tops, one large pool and hot tub,One bar at the entertainment area, one main buffet restaurant where they served breakfast, lunch and supper and the disco was at the far right end of the resort down at the beach...back then it was just an open aired shack with a dancefloor and small dj booth where Freddie rocked out merengue and 80's tunes! lol. The resort back then was lovely, with lush gardens and a beautiful beach in a tropical setting. The food was exellent and the drinks were plentiful. The staff where all so friendly and upbeat and the entertainment staff were INCREDIBLE, everynite then got people up at entertainment with their opening act to the song "hands up" Back then it was Issac, David, Jose, Cezar, Freddie the DJ and then there were Abliet and Ronny the tour reps. For me to remember all of their names after 21 years definatly proves that at one time this resort was an awesome and fun place to be. It's unfortunate that over the years the resort grew and grew to the point it was too much to handle and up keep, just proof that sometimes bigger is not always better. I hope that a new company takes over this resort and it reopens in full force. If it does give it a chance because it is a beautiful property set on a beautiful beach., and the little town of Luperon is full of friendly vibrant people!

The luperon has been a family resort for so long, I've been going there on vacation with my family since I was 5. I'm 18 now, and I took my friends back for a little fun in the sun. I had told them the luperon was the absolute best resort I'd ever been to, and it really had been. I remember the music that played all the time, and the people just having fun! The shops where open, and I used to get my hair braided every time I went! The pools where so awesome, the beaches where beautiful, the food was amazing to say the least.
This was not the case when we went back. It was like stepping into a horror film. The pools where nasty, the locals flooded the beaches and pools on the weekends. During the weekdays there was little to nobody there. I was really saddened. They really had let the place go. The staff where upbeat and actually one named Vikky remembered me, and told me how sad it was to watch the luperon fall apart. The rooms stayed the same really, but just haven't been taken care of. There was peacocks everywhere, as I remember, but it didn't have the same majestic fun that they did back when the resort was nice. The food was horrid. I remember the food being so good, back when I went with my family, but one of my friends found a beetle in her food. The empolyees where so understanding about it, and told us the Luperon was going under some new management soon, and they would put some money into it to fix it up.
I really hope they fix it up, because the luperon was one of my favourite places. So many family memories, and returning to such a run-down place was saddening.

Don't worry about the bad reviews, as I have faith in the fact the new owners wil fix it up, and the luperon will be as great as it ever was.
