“What a great experience”

The Inn By the Bay is a B&B not to be missed. The breakfast room overlooks the ocean. Tammy looked after all our needs and then some! She is a real gem! The Inn has been sold and there is talk of them serving dinner again. Our room was great. Very clean and everything we needed--again thanks to Tammy. Because there is very little traffic on the road, all we heard was the wind and the ocean.

Room Tip: We were on the main floor, so everything was handy, including a washer and dryer! I don't think...

My husband and I stayed here in June of 2011 and fell in love with the Inn. When we decided to return to Newfoundland this year, we couldn't wait to go back to this charming place in Dildo. We were disappointed to find that there is no longer evening dining available and we were forced to go to the local fish fry restaurant, which, while the food was great, wasn't exactly what we'd been looking forward to after the rather gourmet experience a few years ago.
Our room was quite nice, clean and had a very comfortable bed but their advertised partial-ocean-view was actually of the driveway and only if you were at the window looking to your sharp right could you see part of the bay.
Breakfast didn't offer any choice and was an odd combination of two small pieces of bacon, a few undercooked potato pieces and a blueberry egg bake. They don't keep cream for the coffee because they apparently have a problem with it going bad so there was only milk.
We definitely won't go back the next time we visit the province!

We checked only for a room for three people, online there was a room available. we booked it, 50$ were reservation fee. the next day we got an email saying the rooms could only be used only by 2 people. we canceled the reservation (since we ARE 3 people after all), 3 months in advance. Took me by surprise, we were still charged with the 50$, even though the booked room wasn't available at all. I checked two weeks later, the 3 people room was still on display......
Any way, do not book this place for more then 2 people in a room, I guess then things might be fine.

Room Tip: Do NOT try to book a room online for 3 people, you get charged 50$, even though there is no room ava...

Stayed at this charming place some years ago .They had a different owner then.read some of the recent reviews and wasn't sure if it would be the same experience.well....IT WAS! Believe you me the four of us had a great time there(2 couples)..The owners sister, Evelyn was really gracious and even offered us some beautiful spice cake with our tea in the evening(normally not part of a B&B mandate )...Diane ,in the kitchen ,has an amazing smile and warm personality runneth over
! Really charming:-)......Our server for breakfast,Vanessa was really sweet and swift to serve our breakfast and the coffee was always topped off ,without asking.
We will be back!
Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
Brent And Carole Pinsent(and our friends Lise and Marcel)......

Room Tip: We had the George Room and our friends, the Pinsent Room, but they all are awesome!!

Our room was very nice with just enough space to be manageable - not super roomy but enough to be practical. Very comfortable bed. View from dining area is nice but view from our room was of the driveway. Not a big deal except that it was hot and we wanted the window open for sleeping. Good thing there was not much traffic or we'd have had headlights in our eyes all night!

Breakfast was adequate but the service felt impersonal. We were given plates of food and not told what we were getting, what we got, and otherwise not really spoken to. Seemed strange for a B&B, but we don't stay in many so maybe this is typical? Dining room is beautiful - the food and service didn't match up.

Would stay here again. Nice stopping point between St. John's and western destinations. Doesn't seem like there's much to do in this area. We stayed for just one night and continued west.

The inns breakfast room is right next to the water. Imagine outer delight while enjoying our coffee Starbucks I might add four minke whales were surfacing right in front of us. They were going back and forth for at least an hour. The fact that breakfast including fish cakes and they were able to give me gluten free toast was another added delight. The young girl that served us was truly delightful and helpful. See made reservations that evening at Dildo Dory Grill which sits right on the wharf. I had fish and Chips ( they offered it with a gluten free batter ) while my husband a lobster dinner. Both were amazing. The wine was of good choice. The museum is a must see.

This lovely inn was renovated beautifully by the previous owners who continue to own the George House Heritage B & B which is up the hill. The room was very comfortable with lots of hot water. Under the new owners, there is no fine dining as there is no chef on the premises. The staff tried their best but there was no one on the premises at night as the new owners live in St John's. Breakfast was the worst we have ever had, one egg, one piece of toast, turkey bacon, no fruit or cereal, and when we asked for more toast we were told there there wasn't any. We were vastly overcharged but after speaking to Mary, the person responsible for so-called Guest Services, who also lives in St John's, we were given a partial refund. The cafe in the town, the only place to eat, is also owned by the same people who live in St. John's. What a shame and the only blot in a week's travel that was otherwise wonderful.
