“Cosy, Tranquil, Friendly & Welcoming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2013

A lovely place in the Cairngorm national park and a great base to explore the area. The house is extremely cosy and the rooms are beautifully with some wonderful personal touches. The home made shortbread with the biggest tea selection ever was a particular highlight.

On arriving late after a long drive we were greeted by the extremely friendly and welcoming host who served us tea and home baking, which was very well received. The sitting room (off the twin room) was wonderful and as we had both rooms had it to ourselves and with the fire on it was great place to sit in the evening. The owners support fairtrade products and the breakfast was mostly from sustainable sources. The eggs were brilliant and the local butcher sausages were delicious.

The hosts were extremely friendly and could not have done any more to make us feel welcome, if only a fraction of this standard of service existed throughout Scotland all visitors would be in for a treat.

Room Tip: The double room only has a bath in the en-suite whereas the twin has a shower room.

Nethy Bridge has many B&Bs but this must be one of the very best. Jan and Allan were very welcoming, the room was excellent, the guest lounge was great for cold wet evenings and the brilliant breakfasts with choice quality and quantity could not be bettered. With so many little extras, freedom to come and go at will, this is more like a small very friendly hotel rather than just a place to sleep and have breakfast.

My husband and I happened upon Coire Choille B & B during a last minute search for accomodation in the picturesque town of Nethy Bridge. It turned out to be one of our best overnight finds. Our room and bath were spotless and comfortable, and the large private sitting room with fireplace, TV and window overlooking the garden and mountains made us feel at home. Jan was a great hostess, preparing tea and home made goodies when we arrived, and a fantastic breakfast in the morning. Allan directed us on a couple of lovely walks. Our favorite was an evening woodland walk along the River Nethy to the town for dinner at the local hotel. We'd love to return!

We were really lucky to happen upon Coire Choille and Jan and Allan. From start to finish they did everything to make our stay as enjoyable as possible with considerable success. Jan even cooked an evening meal for us when our original booking fell through and the food was delicious, with lots of unexpected little extras and nice touches. Nothing was too much trouble, from information on where we could find services locally to some great advice on local walks and activities. We really enjoyed trying out a new village orienteering route - great for all ages and abilities and an excellent way to fill a couple of hours. We then asked for a suggestion for a good day's walk and Allan pitched it just right for us. At the end of the day we came back to hot baths, soup & supper and relaxed in front of the fire watching tv. The rooms were nicely decorated and immaculately clean, the beds were really comfortable and the configuration of the rooms and bathrooms worked well for us as a family group. By the end of our trip we were sorry to leave and felt that we were leaving good friends. We will definitely be going back - it was home from home only nicer. If you are looking for a relaxed break with a really warm welcome I would thoroughly recommend Coire Choille.

Three of us were going to a concert in the Scottish Highlands and left it very late to book accommodation. Having been unsucessful at obtaining anywhere to stay in the vicinity of the event we contacted " Visit Scotland" who arranged rooms for us at the Coire Chollie - what a gem it was. As we knew we would be arriving at the house very late (or rather, in the early hours of the following morning!) the very welcoming owners, Jan and Alan, kindly agreed we could pick up the keys on our way to the concert. They have one double and one twin room, both en suite and spotlessly clean with plenty of tea/coffee/herbal teas and home made biscuits. Our nephew said the bed was the best he had ever slept in away from home. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful - as well as the usual Scottish breakfast it included fresh fruit, cheese, homemade bread etc and Jan's own oatmeal pancakes. We were only sorry our stay was so brief but hope to stay again sometime in the future.
