Nethybridge

Having just returned from a (very) long week-end in Scotland, I feel compelled to record my experience at the Nethybridge Hotel.

My accommodation was above that of the 3 stars awarded, with a splendid vista from my front facing windows.

Being part of a biking group of over 100 riders, I could see that this small 3 star hotel had its hands full looking after us, yet every request was courteously and successfully complied with.

As expected from such an establishment, the menu each night included a vegetarian option, a fish option, and a meat option, but I know that other alternatives were provided on request without any fuss.

Understandably (with small staff numbers) all meals were served at the same time, which suited us. Nevertheless food was plentiful and cheerfully presented.

The height of the meals must be, when on our last night, they decided to give us a mini banquet. It included ‘Broth’, (the proper, stand-a-spoon-up-in-it type, not the watery soup type.) sorbet, haggis and whisky sauce, and a liqueur laced sweet. The crowning glory of the meal had to be the main course, ‘Beef’ (Aberdeen Angus), piped in by the lone piper (Stephen) and carved in full view by the hotel chef, but only after it had been toasted by all present. The toast being led by Robert, the master of ceremonies.

During this banquet the (mostly young) staff carried out their tasks with military precision and cheerful demeanour. Even the face of Kay broke into a broad smile without notice. Yes great staff and ever-so-friendly.

In summation, a 3 star hotel with a 5 star staff who made up for the cold Scottish weather with their warm friendly craic.

I stayed here on a motorcycle trip last week for 3 nights on a half board basis. On arrival we were greeted with a gorgeous old stone build hotel, with oddles of charm. The twin bedded rooms where extremely comfortable, in fact possibly one of the most comfortable beds I've slept on.
Piping hot showers, breakfast was a buffet style, with everything you could possibly require, rolls croissants, fruit, full cooked options. Our evening meal provided a great choice to suit all tastes including a fish option with was a huge salmon dish. Our final night the management provided a Scottish Highland banquet with included five courses, the manager, a character in himself was in Highland dress and a piper, piped us all to dinner.

Entertainment over the weekend was very enjoyable, the staff were welcoming, helpful, and provided everything essential for a fabulous weekend.

The weekend there has left us with great memories of a great trip to Scotland and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

When our Northern Ireland Rat Motorcycle Club group of 107 people on 89 motorcycles descended on the Nethybridge Hotel for our annual three day long weekend in Scotland, we were greeted by Robert, the manager, and made most welcome. The hotel was warm and cosy despite the overnight sub-zero temperatures and the staff were most attentive. We were able to park the bikes along the roadside in front of the hotel in good view and were provided with the facility to be able to wash them down each evening. Food was plentiful and of a high standard. Robert kept us all on our toes and entertained at dinner each evening with his speeches. The Highland Banquet on our last night included a piper and “The Beef” was enjoyed by all. After dinner entertainment was laid on each night and a great time was had by all. We highly recommend this hotel for large motoring clubs of all kinds and as a biker friendly hotel in a great location with access to some of the best roads in the world.

Visited with husband and 13 year old son on Easter Monday for a 2 day break. We booked a double club room and a single. The club room is well worth the money.2 minibottles of wine in room every day, crisps, nuts, chocolates, dressing gowns, slippers and a fabulous view.
We also met with friends who had been there for Easter and said it was fabulous. If last year was anything to go by when we were theer then it would be.
We as a family love Nethy Bridge as a village. It is like stepping back in time.We play scrabble and sit and gaze in to the welcoming blazing fire in the lounge and entrance.
We are already booked for the Highland games on 11 August and I would urge anyone to come.It is a weekend out of this world.

Once again a big thank you to Robert,Kay and staff in the restaurant,Kelly and of course Sean our wine waiter who we give an awful hard time to which he copes with good humour and personality.

Loved the meals and the breakfast,Good choice of meals and fabulous value for the money spent.

Room Tip: Book a club room its well worth the extra £20

Once again we have returned to this fantastic part of the country, stunning scenery good food great hotel and lovely entertainment. The few days we were here have been great, the food was excellent and since it has been decorated and the function room updated there is nothing to fault at all. Every time we come up to the Nethybridge Hotel we find some fantastic places still to see. This time it was the dolphins at Munlochy bay, it was very special to see them in their natural habitats, also we managed to get up on the fenicular railway up the cairgorms which is a sight so special definately worth a visit, and yes the osprey that visit down the road at the rspb centre have started laying their eggs which you can watch on the computer which is on the reception desk. As always the management and staff excelled, nothing too much trouble. Cant wait to return later in the year.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front have a lovley garden view.

We stayed here as part of a group and were very well looked after. Really good food and large rooms. The decor is a bit old now, but it's good value and set in stunning scenery. The locals bar is full of characters, but their more delicate clientele have the option of the residents bar too!
