“Toille red kites”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2014

This was an excellent activity for any type of groups whether it be a solo or family outing. A camera is a must as it's an amazing experience. The staff were so helpful. There is no set fee but a donation is asked for as this is run by the RSPB. There were a number of red kites around unfortunately also a number of gulls. Viewing can be from inside or outside. The facilities are basic but clean. I found the whole place wheelchair friendly. A very enjoyable experience which we wish to revisit. The only fault we had was the access road was in need of repairing.

“A big disappointment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2014

As keen wildlife photographers on holiday in Scotland we could not miss the opportunity of visiting the Red Kite feeding station at Tollie. We found the advert for the centre in a tourist brochure but found the instructions confusing. "15 miles north of Inverness on the A835". Great if you are travelling from Inverness - not so great if you are travelling from a different direction!
When we arrived the volunteers put out some feed at well before the scheduled feeding time so by the time others arrived for 14:30 as advertised the show was over. There were plenty of gulls but only two Red Kites when we visited and the 'hide' was so far away from the feeding station that photography was virtually impossible (400mm lens). As a supporter and volunteer for the RSPB I'm afraid this is typical of their practice of keeping the public so far away you need binoculars or a spotter scope to see them - good job the RSPB sell them then! I suppose we have been 'spoilt' by visiting the Ballymac farm Red Kite feeding station in Galloway where there are 20-50 Red Kites at a time and you stand so close you can hear the whoosh of their wings as they fly past you. Overall a big disappointment and not worth going out of your way for if you want a photograph that isn't a small dot in the distance!

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2014

Our visit to the Tollie Red Kite facility was an excellent and highly enjoyable experience. The facilities are basic but clean and the birds are amazing. It's almost that they was to perform for visitors - their flying skills are truly wonderful to watch.

“Wonderful”

Closed in area out of the elements. Very educational and well presented visual information. Fantastic scenery. I visited out with feeding times but still enjoyed visit and watching other bird's on the feeders.

“Relaxed setting with very rewarding sightings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

Only a few minutes drive from the main road and you are in a lovely hill top setting and able to see the marvellous kites up close. This was a great break on a long journey and we continued on our way happy.
