“Room for improvement”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2014

My husband I stayed for one night in room 12 overlooking the front of the hotel.
We found there were maintenance issues and staff shortage. The breakfast was very poor with no choice and just one member of staff waiting on quite a number of tables. This should not reflect on individuals who were doing their best but bad management. The hotel was generally unprofessionally run and more like a public house with accommodation than a hotel.
Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms directly above bar area due to loud music until after 2am at weekends.

Great room right at the top over looking the street. No heating until we asked for it to be put on. Noise on Saturday night not a problem. Breakfast average after sitting for 20 mins and then we asked we got a very snotting answer from a middle aged staff members. We finished our break 50 yards away at the black horse which was alot friendier. T&D Notts.

Stayed here on a Saturday night, room was quite nice with a beautifully comfortable bed, tea and coffee etc but Unfortunately I have to feel rather disappointed as the hot tap didn't work, the shower was but a dribble in the morning and the music was deafening until the small hours of the morning. Wifi didn't work upstairs or down.
Apparently they were supposed to warn us about the weekend nightclub, so the owner said during feedback the following morning. They didn't and there was no apology.
Breakfast was reasonable and the hostess very pleasant. It would probably be fine if you stayed Sunday or mid week.

Stayed one night. When booking were advised of the loud music and that it continues until the wee hours. We appreciated that level of candour. The room was a superior and was perfectly comfortable
The staff were friendly and my only comment is that they need. Bit more training in how to run the 'hotel' element of the business. It feels like it is all a bit of a hobby rather than a business with aspirations to excel. Would I stay again? Yes. Nothing was so bad as to be a put off, but it really could make more of itself with some attention to detail at the front desk and at breakfast.
All in all an acceptable stay.

We had Room 10 which is the "family room". Don't stay here on a Friday or Saturday night as you won't sleep until the disco finishes at 2am. The rooms are being done up and are quite nice and modern with tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast was ok, but the sausage was a cheap chip shop saveloy.
