“Cheap and cheerful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

I have just stayed 2 nights at this wonderful hotel very reasonable and a great atmosphere. Local gigs on a Saturday night in the bar of the hotel . The owners a lovely people who cannot do enough for you . I would highly recommend this hotel . Both couples families and even dogs allowed here.

Room Tip: We had the family room just for the 2 of us very big and spacious

Stayed for one night for my scuba at Capernway. Very handy place to stay. Room was very clean and warm. We had to open the window to cool down. Very friendly hospitality from walking in the door. Beautiful breakfast a good start to the day.
We are already booked for another stay for another day at Capernwray.

We stayed here when friends were getting married at the near by Leighton Hall (http://www.leightonhall.co.uk/) - and as we came up by train this was the perfect place to stay.
The management were extremely friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. They also do a good breakfast. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area.

We stayed here last weekend. the room we had was pleasant and clean and warm there was plenty of hot water. The bathroom was clean and had a good shower and bath, my only gripe was that there was no heating in there. The breakfast was v/good value for money as was the room. the owners are working hard to redecorate the hotel. the lounge bar has been very well decorated, Phil & Jo made us fell very welcome and nothing was to much trouble for them. they take dogs as well. as it was a birthday party all my friends had booked in as well not one of them had a bad thing to say

Even this hotel would be a too bigger job for the hotel inspector. Where to start- first impressions it looked nice from the outside but that was where the niceties ended. Hotel stank if old cigarettes and beer, carpets were worn, reception was at the bar, room were something from the 1900s with orginal carpets in the bathroom! The radiators weren't working in fact mine didn't even have a thermostat! Went down and complained to which they answered the heating had tripped, fair enough one problem sorted, but oh no heating never materialised nor did the hot water. Again complained on way out for the night they apologised and said it would be nice and warm by the time we got back, lets just say I slept in my clothes! Came to check out woman I presume was the manager again apologised but didn't offer a complimentary breakfast or money back and said she went into my room and the heating was on basically calling me a liar! All in all worst hotel I've ever stayed in and I've stayed in 2 dollar a night hotels!
