My favourite restaurant in the area. Always go for a sit down meal and enjoy the whole experience. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant. Excellent food and good service.

“Re-visit. Just as good as first time around.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Although I live in the South of England, whenever I visit family in Carnforth we always go to the Far Pavilion at least once during my stay.
To be honest I am not a lover of Indian food, but there are other foods on the menu that are available to suit most tastes,
I do like the Indian beer however!
It is nice to be recognised by the staff who always take the time to come and say hello even when they are busy.

“Our new favourite curry house - v happy to have found it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2013

We moved to the Lancaster area a year ago and have been struggling to find a curry house that we like as much as our old favourite Aziz in Oxford... but we are very happy indeed with the Far Pavilion. An imaginative menu, lots of variety, friendly service. We've been there twice now with our neighbours and their two young girls, and they've been great with them too. I recommend the lamb & green beans, the chicken kofta sambar, and the bindi bhaji! And they do a flaming Sambuca if you ask...

“Second visit - strike out!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013

Wish we had taken HermioneB review seriously! Our second visit, second chance/experience, strike out! Our first visit was approx 1 year ago, not impressed then as we recall but it's fairly local and went with friends this time. Restaurant decor hasn't changed at all in a year - well 25 years in presentation...... .still looks like an outdated 1980's lounge with no atmosphere, although Indian music was playing. Staff attentive in a fairly offhand way, but not top service.....table so badly placed/set that two out of the four place settings had their plates handed to them across the table by the waiter, no warnings either as to whether plates hot/warm. " Maitre D" always checked to see everything was OK.....well it was OK........ (Something has to be quite bad to be challenged when you out with friends!)
Food......extensive choice on the menu.......however we would prefer smaller choice with good quality food. Starters nice enough. Mains- 3 out of our 4 chose mild dishes, different supposedly, on tasting each others we found the sauce to be exactly the same flavour...same colour and texture being obvious .....the difference being almond slices or fruit being added according to which dish you chose........slices of pre cooked chicken added and cubes of lamb cut from what was obviously off a cold pre cooked joint, so meat firm and chewy, not melting into the flavours and sauce. (HermioneB I don't think I got 7 pieces of meat!) Not quite the melding of fresh meats and spices being cooked from fresh that we expect from Indian cookery. Nice tasting but not what it should have been by a long way. Very small serving of rice, although probably enough it didn't look so, being served spread on a stainless platter. Naan was nice.
Basically it's outdated, not particularly cheap especially for the lack of quality of food. Indian food is a wonderful experience but not at this restaurant.

“Not impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We visited this restaurant last night for a take away and after reading all the good reviews I was expecting it to be nice...it was not!

The food came to £21 (2 mains, a starter, rice and naan to share) which is average for an Indian, but sadly the food was also average. Lamb rogan josh had a measly 7 pieces of lamb in it, rice was bland and so was the sauce in my main. Naan was ok and all we were given was a measly bag of salad, rather than the usual complimentary popadoms.

Such a shame, but it was really bland and not worth the money, will not be back
