What a find! Although just down the road, we had never visited this lovely restaurant before, until yesterday.
As you walk through the door, you are transported back to the days of Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard and find yourself in romance and nostalgia filled surroundings.
The staff were delightful, attentive, courteous and eager to please.
Menu choices were quintessentially English and all home made fayre, something here for everyone.
A discussion about scones led to a promise from Andrew, the owner, to bake date and walnut ( a real favourite from my childhood) for this morning.
Lured by the promise of fresh baked scones we ventured back at 9.15 to sit at a sun lit table and enjoy every mouthful of Andrew"s delicious date & walnut and indeed cheese scones. So good were they that before leaving we popped next door to their lovely bakery to buy a batch to take home too. Tantalising aromas of fresh baked bread filled the air, taking me back to my own childhood. The bakery is open 7 days a week 10-3 and is well worth a visit too.
What a lovely way to pass the time and be part of British film history.
