Just returned from a weekend away from this wonderful resort and had such a good time I had to write my first ever review.
Travelled down from newcastle, very suprised at how easy it was to find just minutes of the m6 yet you could hear no road noise or traffic once in your lodge, we arrived an hour early for checkin, however this was not a problem, our apartment was not ready so the wonderful reception staff simply put us into another room that was ready, once checked in and received all information we were given a box of chocolates and champagne as a welcome from the resort !
Once we had parked the car in our allocated parking space we found out room for the weekend and were simply amazed at how nice the apartment was, very spacious and decorated very nice, the kitchen was very well equipped however we did not really use the kitchen while we were there, bathroom was a little cramped but cant really complain about this, bed was very comfortable and clean ! I was very impressed with the heating system, you could choose different modes such as heat, fan, cool etc all with different temperatures etc, we also had 2 pull out sofa chairs in the room which we did not use but they were a little stained and well worn, overall we were both very impressed with the studio apartment especially for the price we paid, we managed to get a deal on groupon for the weekend.
Whilst we stayed here we made use of the swimming pool, not the biggest but liked how it was all one depth, I found it best to use the pool first then the jacuzzi then steam room and sauna as if you went in pool after either 3 of the above it was very cold even though it is heated but that might just be my opinion, we only had one towel in our room so had to pay £1 to use a towel from the leisure centre, why not just give them out for free I do not know, did not use the beauticians while here but had a look at the price list and array of treatments and they all sounded wonderful !
The first night of our stay we decided to go for a few drinks at the bar and see what entertainment was on, found drinks to be slightly pricey, nearly £10 for a koppaberg and pont of fosters ! Entertainment left much to be desired, had a game of bingo, very boring and then they had a local singer come on, left within about 5 minutes of the singer however the older generation seemed to enjoy it.
We then had a meal in the restaurant on the saturday night, had booked a table and were promptly taken over, a little dark in the restaurant but the candles on each table were a nice touch, good wide range of menu, a lot of choice, struggled to decide what to have, finally decided on a chicken dish, was nice but chicken tasted a little burnt, had obviously been cooked on a grill however had no complaints as managed to eat it all, had no room for dessert but they all sounded delicious !
Overall had a wonderful stay at pine lake resort and will definitely be returning in the near future, another tip for anyone coming here, south lakes wildlife park is a definite must, especially if you have children ! Me and my boyfriend are in our 20's and had a wonderful day out here ! Hope fellow travelers find this review helpful :)
