“Timeshare ownership stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

We have owned one week floating time here since November 1993, since then the treatment we receive has changed considerably. In the beginning it was a lovely holiday resort with families staying for the week, the club was packed out every night. Since the points system has come into being every thing has changed, because we refuse and cannot afford to change to the points system we get treated like 2nd class citizens, we have been told that we are not entitled to the fully refurbished lodges even though our yearly maintenance pays for it. Also it is not a resort for owners any more as it is advertised on many websites so anyone can book and by reading the reviews it seems they get better lodges than us. The lodge we had this year was very shabby apart from the toilet and bathroom. In the twin bedroom there was places on the wall where the chests of drawers had been removed and the wall had not been repainted nor had the screw holes been filled in. We had to ask for the patio to be swept and also for the windows to be cleaned in fact it was disgusting compared to a 3 year old caravan we stayed in on a Parkdean site in Cornwall earlier in the year. We will be writing to the head of Diamond resorts with photo evidence and complaining but I don't expect anything will get done as anyone exchanging into the resort will obviously get a top notch lodge. Also walking round the site we noticed quite a few fully refurbished lodges were empty yet we were given an old one.

Room Tip: Make sure you ask for a fully refurbished two bathroomed Lodge.

We are genuinely sorry to read of your concerns and would like to reassure you that all our members, owners and guests are shown the same level of hospitality. Some of the lodges are now fully refurbished whilst others are partially refurbished with new soft furnishings and branded linen etc. We continue with our ongoing refurbishment programme which means all the lodges will eventually be of the same very high standard. The resort team work hard to ensure where possible that any requests placed on a reservation which includes apartment requests. Our guests are encouraged to identify any issues or complaints which they might have whilst staying onsite to allow us the opportunity to either rectify these problems or possibly offer an alternative lodge.

Your feedback is appreciated and we are sorry that on this occasion we were unable to satisfy your expectations.

We enjoyed the well equipped kitchen unit as over a week the family ate most meals in the cottage. Explored Windermere ( 25 mins), Grasmere, Keswick ( 55 mins) and the driving in between. Pine Lake is one minute off the expressway so quick to get around. 5 mins to a huge Tesco. 10 mins drive to the beachfront of Morecambe. 1 hour to Manchester United Stadium Tour. 15 mins from the pretty town of Lancaster. 4 hours to Heathrow. So good base while exploring the area with family. Just walking within the resort is pleasant with hundreds of ducks around !
My favourite view of Lake District was the stunning overlook of Derwentwater ( Keswick) just off Borrowdale rd with good parking and viewing spots.
Great value for money for a week's stay. Excellent shower - difficult to end it ! Big help was the clothes washer and dryer in the kitchen. Large fridge so we could stock up on fruits and juice / milk and drinks.

Room Tip: Get a cottage with the Lake View

What a wonderful find Pine Lake is!!! After a couple of hectic days in Blackpool we were ready to relax and what better place! We stayed in lodge 243 (2 bed) right on the lake front and loved the duck welcome party both night and day. The lodge was refurbished and decorated perfectly with everything you could need in the kitchen and bathrooms. The beds were the comfiest I have slept in in a long time, pure bliss!!! Reception and the bar was friendly, entertainment though a little boring in the evening but then it was rather quiet so to be expected. Couldnt fault food or bar prices at all. Perfect stay only 15 mins to Lancaster and Morecambe and 30-40 mins to the Lakes. Cant wait to come back for a full week next summer - hopefully it wont be raining next time!!

Room Tip: lake view and refurbished

Thank you for leaving your review and we are pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay at Pine Lake Resort. The lodges are in a perfect quiet setting yet like you say, a short drive to cities, seaside and national park attractions. The refurbished lodges have been designed to a high standard to provide our guests with all the home comforts which they expect. We receive regular compliments about our beds and branded bed linen which are extremely comfortable- we’re glad you found this too.

We look forward to welcoming you back again next summer.

We stay here a lot both with my partner and with the family. Lots to see and do even on the resort before you venture into all the lovely surrounding areas. Your just off the motorway so very convenient when travelling. We stayed in a studio right on the lake it was beautiful. Very clean. Very tidy and brilliant atmosphere. Lacked some good entertainment on a night time but beer still flows so its not all doom and gloom. Celebrated my other halfs 30th here and he loved it.

We have stayed here twice. Once in one of the lodges and once in one of the apartments. Both were excellent. Staff at front of house always pleasant. I am disabled and need to gain access in my mobility scooter and have always been treated with respect. Food at the restaurant good and sensibly priced. We have been here on our own and with our two Grandchildren aged 5 and 14. They liked it too. Plenty to do from just relaxing by the lake, boating (expensive) and swimming etc. The boys took their bikes and had a great time riding around part of the lake. We are going back in July. Some good farm shops nearby and nice runs too.

Room Tip: Ask for a lodge that has had a refurbishment over the last few years. All apartments are ok.

Just spent 3 nights at the Pine Lake resort with my mother & sister. We were visiting relatives in Barrow-in-Furness and did not fancy the Travelodge this time, so we paid a bit more to stay here instead. Mother loved it and did not want to leave as we were right down the end with a great lake view, and my sister loved the fact that she could go for a swim every morning & evening as she is swimming mad at the minute (In the indoor pool, not in the lake) haha! We had great weather when we arrived so we sat out on our terrace and had food which was great. The lodge we stayed in had just been refurbished so it was immaculate and had everything you needed (towels, tea, coffee, milk, loo roll etc.) Was not keen on the bathroom as we had been put in a disabled unit so the shower was a wet room with disabled chairs in it, but we did not ask to move as it was ideal for mother who is not great on her feet and it was more about the view. Location was great for meeting relatives in Newby bridge on sunday and other relatives in Barrow on Monday. Loved our stay and would definately stay here again when we are back in Cumbria.

Room Tip: Room 254. Right on the lake with a great view. Also suitable for disabled. Huge kitchen.
