“Check your bill!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

Visited as a family of 8 on Boxing Day, admittedly we arrived a little early but didn't receive a nice welcome and was told by the barman that we were early, we then stood near the bar area expecting to order a round of drinks but nobody seemed to want to serve us until we all sat down at our table.
Once seated they brought our pre-ordered meals, starters were ok but couldn't work out why the toast was served after the pate. The mains were good especially the steak pie, however we didn't expect it to be served with a plateful of sprouts and carrots from Christmas Day having already had them with our Christmas Dinner like most people! The desserts were adequate but nothing special for a Christmas menu, up until this point service had been fine but we were then left with our dessert plates in front of us for at least 20 mins, no offer of tea or coffee was made or extra drinks even after plates cleared.
When the bill was brought we had been charged £25 for a round of drinks we hadn't had, we assumed this to be a genuine error, but, my Sister in law said the exact same had happened to them the last time they visited, so maybe not an error!!! It was the Manager who brought the bill but after my daughter and niece got the bill rectified it was brought over by just one of the waitress who apologised, the Manager was nowhere to be seen!
All in all it was ok for maybe just a quick meal out but i wouldn't go again for an occasion.

“Wonderfull”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013

We had dinner and it was lovely, very friendly staff and nice atmosphere. I think that you Englisch people are very lucky with this restaurant, you can eat good food for a reasonable price. Greeting from people from the Netherlands.

“Nappy changed in dining area!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2013

Visited 21st Nov. food was poor, my scampi so bad we decided to cancel Christmas Day lunch which we had booked previously asked waitress for return of £80 deposit, she went to get manager but he/she obviously thought so little of customer satisfaction he couldn't be bothered to come just sent refund. To cap it all a man at the next table went to change his little girl, didn't go into the toilets but sat on one of the spare chairs in the restaurant throwing an obviously full nappy on the floor. Two members staff passed as this was happening, wish health inspector had walked in. Was disgusted with this place and will never go again.

“Appalling food and service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2013

Our 2 nd trip in a month . Bland , dry starters . In consistent portion sizes .Burnt black Yorkshire puds that should never have made it to the plates of at least 10 of the 18 of us . No sauces offered . No drinks offered . Replacement yorks hires just as bad . Nice place , had no faults first time so not sure what has gone wrong . Used to go in all the time years ago and the pub grub style was fab . Not sure now .

“Amazing food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2013

This must be the best restaurant I have ever eaten in. Very personal but unobtrusive service. Food was the best ever and thanks to all the staff.
