“Ideal location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2013

Fantastic location for walking the coast path between Whitesand bay and Cremill (And its a fine length of coast path). This place has so much potential on a sheltered sandy beach with many watersport choices, views of Plymouth Sound to die for, good parking, a refurbished restaurant and friendly owner. We had a yummy evening meal in the restaurant and a lovely, comfortable, quiet and peaceful night sleep too. Many aspects of Cawsand and Kingsand are as they probably were in the 19th century without traffic, but good fish & chips, pubs and rowing team. And no review is complete without a mention of the fine passenger ferry to Plymouth Barbican from the hotel.

Room Tip: They all have an excellent sea view.

I passed a very enjoyable five days at this hotel. The room had an incredible view across Plymouth Sound and I could have spent all day watching the ships come and go! The whole hotel was very clean and the staff friendly ,efficient and helpful. The manageress in particular was very welcoming and full of local knowledge .I also really enjoyed my evening meals in the restaurant -good quality food and ample portions at reasonable prices .I cant wait to visit again !

Having decided to take the family for lunch on a Friday afternoon, this was our first time.
The burger was great and the kids meals were good too. My only critique is the service staff - can someone please tell the owners or managers that the service staff needs to dress appropriately to serve food. I know they were youngish girls, but clean skirts/trousers should be a minimum.

Having seen the reviews on here I was sceptical about the hotel but it didn't disappoint. The staff were very helpful at suggesting what to do and where to go which helped us feel like one of the locals and the manager was particularly caring, really going the extra mile for the customers needs. As said on here, the rooms were a little out dated but with so much to do in the area why bother complaining about slightly out of date wallpaper? Our room was tidy and had an amazing view of the bay after all. The food we had was also lovely and we felt constantly welcome. I would love to come here again. If the owner has let the place go down hill as some previous reviews suggest then shame on them as it is unrivalled in setting and hospitality.

We have stayed at this holiday before (6 years ago) so knew what we would be getting but didnt expect nothing to have been done to either the decor or furnishings since the last time we stayed. The bathrooms are terrible the electric shower in the first room we were given didnt work so asked to be moved after 1 night. We were then given a family room the shower was worse the T.V didnt work and the bar closed aty 9.45p.m The hotel was virtually empty but every other establishment in Kingsand and Cawsand was very busy in fact we couldnt get a table anywhere but the Cawsand Bay Hotel didnt have any diners? It seems like the owner has given up on the hotel which is such a shame as the position is unrivaled. They dont seems to do any offers and seem very behind the times, the website needs updating and generally needs promoting and investment. The staff were bored understandably as they didnt have customers! but seemed very helpful. The breakfast was adequete but when I asked for fruit they said that they didnt do it! What was very offputting was that a permanant resisdent (who we thought was homeless) fell alseep on the sofa every night snoring very loudly this was in the lounge of the bar! he was only a young chap but this was not very welcoming and slightly intimatdating as he was dressed in a hoodie with the hood up to either residents or customers to the pub. We would have spent more money here but as there was no atmosphere we ventured to other local pubs to eat and drink. Please please please owner take note as this was a thriving business 7/8 years ago where the locals used to come and vistors enjoyed spending time here.

Room Tip: check that the shower works and the cubicle is not broken. Also check the t.v. If you are over 6ft...

Visited cawsand today specially to go for lunch and Popped in cawsand bay hotel for a bit of lunch but the chef hadnt turned up so they weren't serving food. Pretty rubbish considering its Easter holidays! Should consider back up staff or offer a limited menu instead.

Stayed at the hotel as were attending a close friends wedding. Turned out that this is where most of my family stayed for my wedding later on that year! Lovely friendly staff, reasonable rates and great wine(from what I can remember!) Beautiful, panoramic views of the bay from our room and the warm comfy bar lounge/restaurant. All in all if you're staying in the area this place is reasonable and a must.

Room Tip: The upper rooms seemed interesting as they are split level!
