“Not as spectacular as last visit ”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

After such a wonderful experience with our last visit I was truly disappointed Sunday service was poor food was not up to par asked waitress (Nikki) for information after eventually prying her off her mobile phone was then told it was the head chefs day off and people have been complaining all day
This was something me and my family did not want to hear staff are slow and non compliant and food was very poor and tasteless All you could hear was staff scar larking about and ignoring customers which lead to a few walking out
I'm very disappointed and will not be attending again unless we phone in advance and make sure the head chef is working and more competent staff are working (the manger needs too train front of house properly and get proper quality staff !

“Best in the Bay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Spent a week in Cawsand and have to say we found this the best eatery in the 2 villages.
Located on the beach with views across Plymouth Sound it has an elevated restaurant, simply furnished with seperate bar area.
Menu is modern british with a good choice of 8-10 mains and a special board with 3 mains.
Service is friendly and competant, we visted towards end of season and I understand it can get very busy.
Food was well presented and well cooked and seasoned.
Deserts were offered, choice of 4-6 (remomend the bailey's cheesecake)
Would eat there again, booking, maybe in high season

“Oh dear, sunday service.....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2013

We hit a bad time. The staff were very sweet but totally untrained and not able to field the questions asked. At least our order was accepted unlike fellow diners whose choices were severley limited. The special was found to be fine but the three servings of fish and chips were poor and at over £12 .95 totally overpriced for what we received. (We had been in cornwall for over a week and eaten exceptional fish and chips in restaurents for much less). A very por experience.

“Lovely views,good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

We dined here as a last minute as everywhere else was full on a Saturday night. Was a little dubious as we were only the second table there for the whole evening but was pleasantly surprised at the good food. Children's option was good . Chicken nuggets were made from scratch not the freezer store bought ones and the veg was fresh. Wines were reasonably priced and waitress was friendly.

“Awful service but food good - eventually!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2013

Despite booking our table in advance on the night, when the restaurant knew what commitments they had, we had to wait over an hour for our food - totally unacceptable no matter what the reason. The management blamed it on the huge table next door to us (approx 30) having come in late but still insisted on making US pay for that table's tardiness by serving them with their starters AND their mains before the four of us. They obviously assumed we were on holiday and they'd never see us again so the appalling service didn't matter and made no attempt whatsoever to make recompense until I told them the people we were with were locals! Suddenly a free bottle of wine appeared. There is absolutely NO EXCUSE for such treatment. Over an hour for our uncomplicated starters and a further 40 minutes for our mains. When we did get our food it was very nice but the management were completely out of their depth and our 'thank you' evening to our holiday hosts was ruined. Just to add insult to injury, the place is totally devoid of either atmosphere or noise-absorbing furnishings and the noise of the huge party drowned out our attempts at normal conversation. I cannot recommend this restaurant and only gave it 2 stars to take it up from 'terrible' to 'poor' because the food was nice.
