“Fantastic Holidays !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

We stayed here the middle of oktober for a week on a all-in base. It was really great; pool, sun, good food, clean rooms, friendly staff and real San Miguel from the draft. What more could you wish for ?
We were here two years ago as well and i must say that it improved a lot, it was always nice bit now it just has that extra touch...
We hope to come back next year, if it isn´t fully booked that is !

This hotel isnt even worth being named as a hotel. The food is dangerous even for dog's health, the rooms are chubby and at least 30 without renovation. The staff only speaks spanish and isn't able to help in anything.
Don't go there !
Fly to "Le Taha'a Island resort and spa" or to "Te Tiare beach hotel" .

Having booked to stay in the Stella and Spa Hotel from 4th to 13th September it came as something of a shock to us to find out on arrival at 1:30am in the morning our booking had been cancelled by someone within lowcostholidays and they had taken it upon themselves to change our hotel without our knowledge. Of course this is now subject of a complaint but having been forced to stay at the Fergus Montemar Hotel I still feel qualified to offer an objective opinion about this hotel. The post below this one mentions one of the reception staff. Her name is Patricia and yes she is probably the best bit of the whole hotel. She's a very friendly person and always had a greeting for you when you passed her on reception.
The rooms in the apartment section off the main hotel were pretty basic but at least clean. The shower in the bathroom was an absolute nightmare and actually stepping into the bath itself was also dangerous as it had no bath mat and was extremely slippy.
From our balcony we overlooked a car park, volley ball court, football pitch, a block of flats and assorted businesses directly opposite our apartment room, no sea view here folks, move along.
The hotel offers all inclusive and this of course means getting served at the bar can be a bit of a wait. Don't try getting a drink at 11.25pm as you'll get killed in the stampede. The food in the canteen, yes canteen, I wouldn’t dare call it a restaurant was worse than average but great if you liked cold food because nothing seemed to be hot. They had themed nights but someone should give their chef’s a themed night cookbook as not very much changed from night to night. We ate out at least half of the time and when we did eat in the hotel it wasn't great. Breakfast is the usual fare, strange boiled eggs with black yokes and the usual processed ham and cheese, scrambled egg and bacon that defies the description, and one toaster to serve the whole place which is a bit of a joke as was the coffee machine that made coffee so strong you could stand your spoon in it. Plenty of fruit and cold chips from the night before.
There were sun beds around the pool but not a great deal of space and as I hate lying on top of other people we only used the facilities a couple of times. The pool did look nice but I can't really comment as I never went in it. When you mentioned where we were staying in the resort we got those 'oh dear' looks as I understand the hotel has a bit of a reputation in the area and was told it had changed hands four times in twelve months. I can't confirm this, but as it's now referred to by the name Fergus Hotel, with the Montemar bit missing I can only suggest this might be for a reason? I only know I didn't book to stop at the Fergus (Montemar) Hotel and won't be recommending anyone else should stop there either.

We have just returned from this hotel - thursday 20/9/12. Difficult to rate, lets start with the positives: very clean, well planned room, bath with shower over, clean towels and bedding changed regularly. Food was plentiful, buffet style, but a little light on meat for us carnivores! Very small chicken pieces or sausage were mostly available. They had themed cuisine nights every night, which necessitated a complete redecoration of the dining room - sombreros on mexican nights with little terracota jugs, bamboo and parasols on oriental night etc. Only problem was the food didnt change much! But we didnt go hungry, there was always something. There was an animation team there the first week as there was a small number of children, but by the second week the team and acts were not present. And now to the sticking point of this hotel - they have a lovely outdoor area to sit in the evening, handy for the smokers and for people to relax in the warm evening air - but no music at all - not even a low volume background music. This made it a bit sterile, like being at a business conference or something. There were a lot of foreign guests here - far outnumbering the brits but i dont mind this as i have witnessed some really bad behaviour from the brits in the past!! Staff were professional but not warm or engaging, except for the dark haired plump girl on reception who was really friendly. 40 euros for a safe seemed excessive, and we had to pay a refundable deposit of 10 euros on this! They do have a confusing and irritating system on the all inclusive where you have to have a wristband AND some paper cards when you have a drink - when u take your glasses back you get your cards back. This is annoying at the end of the night when you only want to return your glasses but have to wait in the drinks queue to redeem your cards!. Not a bad location but pineda is not as good as calella or santa susanna. We had a good holiday but i wouldnt use this hotel again due to the niggly points i have mentioned. It does have a lovely walk in pool and jacuzzi though!

Room Tip: lower floor rooms seem to have thicker walls - no neighbour noises. We were on the 5th and they wer...

After reading reviews we were a bit worried! When we arrived we were shown to our room which turned out to be an apartment. Very spanish on two floors with bedroom and sunterrace upstair and living area and balcony as you walked in.
Food in the restaurant was good and catered for everyone. The drinks on all inclusive were fantastic, san miguel was the beer served! The pool was very clean. The interior is very dated but very clean for the price we paid definitely value for money! Great locations only two streets from main street! Perfect will go back again.

read all the reports before we went so we werent wasnt especting much. The best thing was the cleanliness of the hotel and the fact it was only two minute walk to the train station so you could get out of the resort. trains are cheap, and regular, easy to visit santa susanna one stop away and about an hour to barcelona the other way. Tossa de mar is also worth a visit much prettier and no graffit which spoils the look of a lot of places in this area.

There was very little entertainment at thehotel and it was full of french and spanish. We were all inclusive and I have never seen people eat so much!! we could only manage one plate per meal some people had two, three or four platefulls BUT BEWARE of the small woman manager in the hotel restuarant who shouted at us in spainish infront of full resturant when we took a bread roll out in our bag snatched it off us like we were 3yrs old. So you can full your face in resturant but cant take a bread roll with you on your last day. pathetic no apology given or explanation in english. the cleaners and waiters pleasant enough but some of the managers need some customer relation tips.

the food was ok most of the week nothing special but can get cold so get there early Snack bar disappointing. Small pool but beach is close and large. we didnt sit around the pool at all. All inclusive cocktaiks are terrible but other alcoholic drinks good measures.
very noisy with doors slamming through the night.

Best for short breaks to use the train to explore the coast on train and visit Barcelona train and open top bus through city 24e each.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week, it was a cheap n cheerful week in the sun. Overall we had a great time, we liked the food, there was only 1 evening where it just was not to our taste (marine night is saturday night, very very fishy !). All other meals we both really enjoyed and for what we paid we cannot complain. Service was fine, same as I have had in other similar places. Shame they did not have the wine on tap and getting water was a bit of a hassle - they don't supply bottles. I would have also liked the coffee machines to be on at lunch and dinner. Sometimes the bar was busy but it was usually cleared quickly. The White Russians (cocktails) were great !! They are included in the all inclusive. Hotel was really clean, good location, nice pool, a little cold but a welcome relief from the heat. The poolside bar was good with a really helpful friendly member of staff there. The ticket system was a little tiresome but I can see whay they do it, you just get used to it. Air conditioning in our room was excellent. Pineda is a nice wee place, perfect for a quiet trip or for families. We really enjoyed it. If you only have a limited budget then this would suit you but take ear-plugs !! The beach was great and we also went there every afternoon, the sea was lovely and warm.

Room Tip: not sure what to recommend, there was no sound proofing in our room so you could hear everything...
