“хороший отель”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

I had a rest in Pineda in September. Mont Palau is good hotel which is on the central street of the small town. It is 5 minutes to go to the sea on foot. There are many different shops near the hotel. Service personnel is very friendly and helpfull, the rooms is clean, breakfasts are nutritious, but personally for me didn't have enough fresh vegetables. There are 2 russian channels on TV (if you decided watch TV on vac :)) In a lobby and in the bar there is free wi-fi. If I will be at those edges, I will stop in this hotel.

We stayed at the Mont Palau hotel from 31st August to 7th September 2012. Although the rooms were a bit jaded they were exceptionally clean and comfortable and we overlooked the main square which was awesome. The rooms had air-con which we found to be adequate even when temperatures were in the 30's. We found the food to be of a high standard both at breakfast and evening (we went half board). The spanish speaking staff were very helpful albeit we did communicate by sign language a lot of the time. There was an English lady on reception called Wanda who was extremely helpful and also spoke fluent Spanish. The owner of the hotel was always hovering about and always asked if everything was ok. They could not do enough for you. We would recommend this hotel and will be returning next year.Remember it was a 3 star hotel and you get what you pay for.

We returned from a long weekend here, on full board. Overall, really pleased! The transfer from Girona airport was good as we were one of the first people to get dropped off; the journey was around 45 minutes. My boyfriend was worried it was going to be a "Brits abroad" resort and when we boarded the transfer bus full of hen/stag parties I did panic a bit! But luckily none of them were at this resort - Pineda de Mar is not touristy at all. It is very friendly, not too lively but certainly not boring. This hotel is very close to the beach, 2 minutes walk straight down the road. The beach is gorgeous and wasn't too busy. There are some lovely bars all along the coast, and you can walk a long way down the coast enjoying the scenery. We walked about half an hour down to "Santi's Bar" where the barman was very nice and this part of the beach was the quietest, the sea was lovely for a swim and the beach didn't seem as pebbly! One evening we hired a tandem bike for 11 euros and spent a couple of hours cycling about as there are cycle paths by the beach. We went over to Zona 6 bar, about 30 mins cycle to the beach Roca Grossa in Calella (the next resort) which had great service and live music. The train station is also at the beach so you can get a return ticket to Barcelona for 9 euros each, this is about 1hr 30 on the train and of course a lovely day out. Recommend TapaTapa for tapas at the Maremagnum mall on the port while you are in Barcelona; great food and service. The Mont Palau hotel was cheap & cheerful - quite basic but all very clean, good shower, balcony, TV, and the service was good; ideal for a couples' holiday on a budget. The hotel pool is on the roof and wasn't too busy, it was quite posh really and had obviously just been refurbished - lovely new sunbeds and a beach bar with a really friendly and helpful barman. The only downside to the trip was the food - it was really average; the buffet was too often recycled. As an example, there were sweetcorn & green beans served for dinner on Friday night that then re-appeared for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday and Sunday! I know they have to make the leftovers last but I thought that was overstepping the mark. Plus there was one dinner which was completely inedible because all the meat dishes appeared to be raw, so that was disappointing. I did feedback to the hotel on that issue - the food isn't bad, as the majority of meals I had plenty to eat, but it was the only negative of the whole stay so overall a really lovely trip!

We have just returned from a 7 night stay at this hotel. It's nothing flash but for the price we paid for 7 nights half board it was perfectly fine. The location of the hotel is excellent, just off the main square of Pineda de Mar which is lively on a night but in a good way (not drunk idiots just families and kids enjoying themselves) and a short walk to the beach. Our room was basic but clean and having good working air-con was great. The breakfasts were the best meal, good selection of cereals and pastries plus various hot options if that's what you wanted. Dinner tended to be a bit hit and miss, the dining room fills up quick but we found if we left it untill an hour after dinner had started it was a lot calmer. There was a selection of salads every night, a pasta dish, some veg, chips and a fish and a meat dish.We didn't always know exactly what we were eating and had to play 'guess the meat' a couple of times but everything was quite edible and mostly tasty,Dessert was fruit, pretty much watermelon every night, some sort of pudding or a tub of sorbet out of the freezer which were lovely. Just be warned, some people's manners leave a lot to be desired and think nothing of pushing in/taking mountains of food they don't eat!
The pool area is small but the most modern looking area of the hotel and is a nice place to do a bit of sunbathing.
Pineda de Mar is a lovely place for a holiday. There seemed to be just one english bar in the whole town so if that's what you want on holiday it's not the place for you but we loved it,lots of nice cafes and bars serving spanish food and at least 3 gorgeous ice cream parlours. We actually felt like we were in spain rather than england in the sunshine!
The only thing we would maybe have a little moan about for the whole holiday is how rude most of the Russian guests were, it may be just their way but they never seemed to crack their faces or know how to say please and thankyou!
Overall it was a lovely holiday, perfect for a couple or families and will return to Pineda de Mar again. The Montpalau is basic but for the price is great for a cheap week in the sun but would recommend anyone staying there to just opt for b&b as dinner gets a bit samey and eating out in the town is pretty cheap.

My grown up daughter and I have just returned from a 7 night stay in this hotel and were very happy with our stay.

It was my first visit to Spain and I was concerned that it would be very touristy and full of clubs, pubs and drunks. Thankfully Pineda de Mar is nothing like that. There was a local Fiesta going on for 5 days so everywhere was lively, but with Spanish people, and they were very friendly and welcoming. There was a traditional parade through the town one night and I'm so glad we were there for that, we got a taste of the true Spain. Each night there was something different going on.

The hotel was very good, the staff were friendly and polite and spoke good English. Our air con was not working when we first arrived, but was fixed within a couple of hours of me reporting it. The room was perfectly adequate for our needs. bathroom with shower over bath, twin beds, wardrobe, dressing table etc. We had a very large balcony from which we could see the pool and roof top sun terrace on one side and the sea on the other and being on the sixth floor we had quite good views. The only down side was the food, it was awfull!! We were advised to get to the dining room for 8pm when they open as the food tends to go cold, but one evening we were the first people through the door and the food was stone cold! There was never much choice and most of the salads and veg were just reworked leftovers. I have worked in Hospitality and Catering for many years and know all the tricks of the trade, and obviously so does their chef!! We had booked full board and were left hungry most evenings. I would go back to the hotel but would book room only or b&b as there are plenty of restaurants around and supermarkets for packed lunches, and the hotel bar does a very good cooked brekkie!!

Room Tip: Street facing rooms on the sixth floor have good sized balcony for families.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay. We were not expecting much to be honest. The hotel is in the centre of Pineda de Mar overlooking the main square. The location is excellent as the locals congregate in the area and it makes for a relaxing environment. Our rooom (407) over looked the square. The beach was a 10min walk down the main pedestrian area and the train station the same. We went to Barcelona for the day which cost us approx 8 euros return and took an hour.
The bathroom is basic but served our needs ( some of the bathrooms have been upgraded). The beds were comfy and Air Con was available 24hrs per day which was excellent.
The pool area was quite small and really suited for a dip not a day sunbathing. We went to the beach most days.
We had a few issues during our stay which were nothing to do with the hotel and the owner and his staff couldnt have been more helpful.
The food was the usually affair some nights excellent some nights not, although some of the guests dont seem to have never eaten before However for a cheap get away we couldnt fault it. We would return again for a short break in a Spanish seaside town!!

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking the square we were in 407 on the corner!
