“Give a wide berth What a hell hole !!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2014

All i can say about this place is Hell Hole!!!! Horrid apartments and view looking at a brick wall and very dangerous apartmentsfor kids. Too small and yukky. Had to pay 100 euro on arrival and they came at silly oclock in morning to count the spoons incase we had stolen any..... Pool freezing and nothing to do for kids no entertainment or anything. Breakfast is so bad i cant describe!!!!!! The only up side to this place is its close to beach and stuff and reception staff are great really helpfull. Please do not go here its awfull i really cant say anything else. Oh an they do not give maid service , no clean sheets all week and towels for 6 people once !!!! stay away and spend your money elsewere , we stayed here for one week end of august and never again. Good job we had already had our summer holiday in june and we hired a car to get out of there for 3 days we would have gone barmy otherwise . This is a 100% honest review.

Room Tip: There all bad !!!

Hotel Staff are pleasant but the Pool is really cold tap water ( we used it once in 10 days) . Apartment is basic and but functional and the location is good. I was concerned that the reviews said it was noisy but this was not the case for us. It was uncomfortable with no real place to sit together. What really concerned me was my daughter suffered a serious electric shock from one of the plug sockets in the bedroom which had exposed wiring . It was one of the switch type with a 2 pin socket next to it. She was very lucky and recovered after 10 minutes shock and discomfort. This was a poor start to our holiday.WARNING NOTE ! DO NOT USE THESE SOCKETS FOR CHARGING PHONES. August Price was £980 for 10 days which represented OK value but for those costs there was no excuse for the lack of WI FI and the shoddy electrics. On the plus side Pineda is very nice and not too Touristy, We liked Casa Blanca Bar in Placa next door ( need some Spanish) but not the Bucanneer Pub where the owner was rude so I left. The RENFE Train Line is brilliant . Buy a 9 euro T10 5-4 zone ticket (5 return trips) and you can visit Calella , St Pol and Canet -all very good for a change of scene. Barcelona is 4.95 euro one way -great value

Hotel is across road and railway line (via underpass) to the beach and about 150 metres from the train station. Staff are friendly and helpful. Family orientated and quiet - bar closes at midnight. Excellent budget hotel for children. Hotel rooms all have sea view balconies. Rooms big enough for family of 4, good showers in low wall baths. Definitely recommend.

Just back from 11 nights staying in one of these apartments. They are clean and spacious enough, but a little basic. The Hotel itself is about 200m away where you can use all facilities such as pool.

Pineda is a nice town (much quieter and less commercialised than others in area). Hotel is across road from beach and walking distance from train station. We went all over on train, including day trips to Girona and Barcelona. You can also avoid expensive airport transfers by using the train.

I would return to Pineda. BUT I would not stay in these apartments again, nor can I recommend them for the following reasons:

1. Walls and ceilings are paper thin, which means you hear absolutely everything in apartments above, below and across from you. Babies crying through the night, people talking at normal volume keep you awake at night, people slamming doors, children playing in the early hours. We stayed longer than most, and people came and went during our stay. So some nights we got some sleep, others we didn't. There is no way I'd stay again here unless I knew no one else was,

2. Kitchen is extremely basic. All you have is two small rings and a microwave to cook on. How do you cook for 5 people on that? The caravan we stayed in last year was better equipped. You need a grill/oven.

3. Lanudry area. This is only useful if you are on the top floor. If you hang your washing here, the flat above will throw water, waste and one occasion cigarette ash all over your clean clothes! No washing machine facilities either

4. To cap it all the electrics are little ropey too. Cooker shorts out when moisture gets into it causing bug bangs and shocks to users. Staff at hotel suggested I wear flip flops when cooking. But I can tell you as an electrical engineer that the problem was not just earthing.

I would underline though that these apartments are kept very clean. fresh towels every few days and the maids do a good job.

I just wouldn't stay here again for above reasons. There are better places to stay.

Room Tip: Stay in the top floor for best chance of getting some sleep and having clean washing when you wake u...

We spent 2 weeks in Hotel Sorrabona apartments in August 2012. We have three kids 12,10 and 8. The hotels location is the biggest plus and is directly across from the beach and in the centre of the town. B&B and half board seem to stay in the hotel building itself and the self catering apartments are around the corner in a separate building. We were self catering and even though we had the use of all the hotel facilities and pool, sunbeds etc, we still felt a bit detached from the hotel community at times. Having said that the accommodation is spotless, the towels are changed every 3-4 days the bed covers were changed once in 2 weeks but the walls are thin and you can hear doors closing and chairs being moved. The town is mainly families and older and there is very few crowds of twenty somthings around. We travelled into Barcelona by train which is an hours trip and we hired a car for a few days. All in all a great holiday but would prefer to have been part of hotel and for that reason only would not stay in there again.

Room Tip: Ask if you can be in the hotel building if you are self catering

Just spent a most enjoyable weeks holiday staying at the Sorrabona hotel. Excellent location, the beach directly infront of the hotel and all shops, banks etc just a short walk away. The staff are very friendly and the room was excellent - spacious, spotlessly clean and lovely large balcony overlooking the beach. There is a fantastic large swimming pool for guests (immaculate and clean like everything here), plenty of sunbeds for guests, shaded area, lounge area and free wifi. Breakfast good with plenty of choice and evening meal was adequate with lots of fresh vegetables, salads and fruit. Good wine list and bottle of wine around £8/£10 - drinks at bar good value too. We parked our hire car in the car park at the hotel for 7 Euros a day - safe and shaded parking.

Have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Some light entertainment provided .. a disco one night and live music another but very very low key and no problem with noise... both evenings the music was over by 11pm... and rooms have double glazed patio doors so once shut could hear nothing!

As a family with a hire car we made excursions every day and went up North to the beaches around Palafrugell, Tamariu, Llafranc and Tossa - easy driving and beautiful scenery.. One day we got on the train from outside hotel and went for a day trip to Barcelona - bit busy and hot! Try Girona instead - far more civilised!

Sorrabona will def be coming back to see you!

Spotless and well maintained. Unlike adjacent resorts Pineda does not suffer from the all night discos so its nice and pieceful.

On the front between the railway line and the sea, but not a problem as underpass immediately in front. Train station within 100 yards and 1 hr to Barca

Food is good but a limitted selection. I find this great as when there are massive buffets, I over indulge. Plenty of good restuarants in the area if you are a fussy eater.

Would go back tomorrow and met a couple on their 15th visit which speaks for itself
