“A genuine Catalan experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012 via mobile

This familial restaurant is hidden in the small streets of central Torroella de Montgri and is worth the quest to find it. The kitchen offers real Catalan dishes and is well patronized by locals, often travelers staying in the 21 hotel rooms of the facility.

During my last visit the place was full but, despite the hectic, the service was friendly and efficient. In addition to the 'a la carte' choices, two menus are offered for 15 and 20 Euros. Both have four courses, including desert and wine. The cheaper one, the 'Menu del Dia', has less choices but both are of great value for money.

The timeless atmosphere of an old and well renovated building adds a charming note to an typical and simple Catalan dinner experience.

“Great value, real home cooking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

This establishment has been in the same family for over 80 years and the walls are proudly decorated with pictures of earlier generations.

The food was really hearty and probably the closest to real Catalan home cooking we had in our 2 weeks in this wonderful part of the world. We ate the 20 Euro dinner menu but there was a cheaper menu as well and a la carte too. The highlights were a roast veg and goats cheese starter, grilled cuttlefish and slow-cooked pork cheeks. We finished with a great crema Catalana and it was all accompannied by local red wine.

Service was efficient and freally friendly from someone who was rightly proud of her business and heritage

“A price performer. Excellent choice.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2010 via mobile

On my way to the castello when I checked reviews. The one review for this place sounded legit so I here I am. Menu of the day is 3 courses for 10 euros. Writing this review using their WiFi. Eating lovely small salad now - crisp greens, carrots, red pepper, onions, and olives. Good (not great) bread -and they served butter when asked.2nd course tostadas with 4 types of ham and sausage. Surprisingly good as this is not something I would usually choose. 3rd course -fish: 2 small grilled steaks of a mild fish with lemon & a tbs. of pest or parsley w garlic. Altho this was plenty of food, I decided to try dessert - house special Apple tart ok, probably very good fresh from oven. Owner says 80 yrs in family- 4 generations. I'll be back for breakfast.

“We felt at home / Como en casa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2009

We have spent a week in this small hotel and restaurant. The room (#205) was large and excepcionally clean, with bathroom and AC. The hotel is located in the center of the medieval town. The best part is the service, very friendly, and the meals. We felt at home here!
