“Well situated”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

The hotel is quiet and well situated by the sea. It's very convenient to step out to the beach promenade from the pool area. We had a spacious room with a sea wiev. Most of the clients were elderly Spanish people. The flat terrain in Roquetas suits also well for peole whose ability to walk is impaired or who use wheel chair.
Sometimes we could hear noise from other rooms, but since the clientel wasn´t keen on partying, it did´t bother us. What troubled us most were the flies. It was unconvienent to use the pool area because the persistent flies were all over the sunbathers. What a pity!
We were all inclusive customers, but all wasn´t included. There were strict rules what could be taken from the pool bar. The worst was the red wine. It was ´vino verano' and tasted poison. It was permitted to drink only one glass with the meals! There was very little entertainment in the evening, only one show during our week.
But all in all we liked Roquetasde Mar and survived the hotel, because of the spacious room with a huge bed and decent service. But next time we´ll look into the restaurants around the hotel. There were plenty of them. We appreciated the prices in the area. They were surprising low! We look forward to visiting the Urbanizacion of Roquetas again.

Room Tip: A room with a sea view.

Hotel, pool, location, bar and buffet were OK. Buffet was not so good as show at photos. Staff in the restaurant was most of the time not friendly, sometimes even unfriendly. The food was OK but more choice should be better and more quality and variation would improve the review.

We decided to give Roquetas de Mar a second chance after a disasterous holiday at the Mediteraneo 18 months ago as we liked the area. What a difference. We stayed half board as they only offered half or full and we're dreading the food after our last experience...it was amazing...and I mean it. My partner is the most fussiest eater in the world, but always found something. Health food..local food..show cooking..fantastic. Room was great. Spacious and with a sea view. Kept clean. Service was great even though it does get very busy with the Spanish holidaying there. Pool was lovely, lots of sunbathing areas, and being directly on the beach you were spoiled for choice. The evening entertainment was a bit poor, not much to write home about. We found that out and about a lot of the cafés/restaurants had closed down, so not as many options for entertainment as last time, but take a stroll along the front and you can always find a nice place to eat and drink at. Would we go back to Roquetas? No, but it's worth one visit.

Room Tip: Sea view is a must and they all have them on the front

Before we went on holiday we checked the tripadvisor web site on this hotel, and were a bit concerned about some of the negative reviews. However, we had a really positive experience. Rooms and hotel were very clean, everything worked in the room, and safe situated in wardrobe, for which you hire the key. If you're a TV addict, you may be disappointed as only 2 English channels available in our room, BBC and Ch4. The only thing we found was the noises from neighbouring rooms can be a problem, mainly in the mornings, especially if you are a late riser. We had a great week there. The staff were very nice and helpful, and the reception staff, especially, spoke good English. It might pay to learn a little Spanish before you go. There were a lot of 'older generation' guests while we were there, but it didn't cause a problem to us. There also was a lot of food to chose from in the restaurant and very nice tasting hot food, believe me I am fussy what I eat so if I can find food to eat then I am sure anyone will. In the evening we went for drinks at the Boulevard Bar just a short walk from the hotel, it is run by a Scottish couple so there is no problem with the language, even the bar staff speak very good English and they will make you very welcome there. Also for sunbathers get a sunbed booked at Playa Toni just outside the hotel its well worth the money.

This is a very large hotel right on the beach with it's own big pool and plenty of sun-beds.
Central for bars and restaurants. Although it is child friendly it is big enough for adults to find plenty of space.
The rooms were spacious and clean with excellent en-suite facilities. We prefer a walk in shower, but our room had a shower / bath. However they may do walk in showers, we didn't ask.
The food was reasonable but lacking hot plates for breakfast.

Room Tip: We were in a superior room I don't know if this is the norm.

Celebrated my Husbands 50th birthday at this wonderful hotel, the food, service and accomodation were all first class, but full marks to the excellent friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is an ideal base for your holiday, trips to local towns and attractions are merely a bus ride away, hiring a car opens up a whole variety of stunning views and locations. We are here again celebrating my 50th landmark birthday, picking up where we left off last year because we ran out of days to cover all of the sights. We are yet again taking home a lot of happy memories, adios, hope to come back again next year.
