“Excellent hotel and golf courses”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

This travel and stay at Islantilla Golf Resort was excellent.
Stayed there for 10 days playing golf every day on a 27 hole golf course was a very nice experience. I will definitely go there again sometime.

5 years ago my wife and I stayed and played golf at Islantilla and my son said it was typical of me that we then spent several holidays at other golf resorts all of which came up short, by comparison. Some friends asked if we would recommend a return visit and we said like a shot. So how did we fare? On arrival ( a YGT ) package, we were upgraded to roomy and comfortable junior suites, by the charming reception staff member who claimed that the buffet was better than ever and our party of six would fully concur, both the choice and quality are amazing said our foody specialist, a notable trencherman. Be realistic though do not expect the choicest cuts of beef. The golf course was in first rate condition for March, despite an unusually wet winter, firm fairways and slick greens on a wonderfully well designed 27 hole complex. The clubhouse overlooks the 10th fairway and is an ideal place for a beer and snack, try the local specials. Our foody man was brought a mini portion when he queried one dish, much to his delight, and subsequent order. The clubhouse staff were incredibly helpful, far better than the last visit even, changing times and dates for us with patient good grace, special mention to Fran who with his ready smile and charm is brilliant. To be fair all the staff at Islantilla are outstanding, bar and restaurant as well. The only downside to Islantilla is that it is in a fairly quiet and remote area and good weather is key to a great holiday. We were lucky, experiencing half a day of rain in eight days. Islantilla is the best value for money you can get, in continental Europe, for golfers.

Room Tip: Quieter at the rear with evening sunshine on the balcony

This was our first experience of a Golf Resort in Europe and, for the money we paid,it far exceeded our expectations in all aspects. It is classified as a 4 Star hotel hotel and more than meets this standard. Check in was welcoming and efficient and nothing was too much bother for them.

The rooms whist being slightly outdated are a good size, comfortable and clean. One minor criticsm is that there is a charge for use of the safe which is a slightly outdated practice.

The food in the restaurant both at dinner and breakfast was buffet style which was of good quality and ample choice. The choice of deserts was one of the best we have seen including 5 star hotels.Service in the restaurant was excellent with dishes on the buffet constantly topped up and empty dishes quickly removed from the table. Special mention to Manuel who did a sterling job and is a great asset to the hotel. The wine was reasonably priced at 9.5 euros for a bottle of house wine.

Considering that we experienced a couple of days of very heavy rain during our stay the golf courses were in good condition.Holes 1 to 9 in particular are very challenging whilst 19 to 27 are more open and forgiving. Due to the course being closed for 2 days the staff at the golf centre had a difficult time but were very accommodating in offering us alternative times.

All in all, a very enjoyable experience and one we would certainly recommend.

Just back from another fantastic week at this lovely resort. The staff cannot do enough for you, always friendly and attentive of your every need. The food is buffet style and has a huge selection so you should always find something that takes your fancy, especially the puddings! The golf courses are very well presented and are set out as three 9 holes. The blue course is the most difficult, followed by the yellow course and the green being the easiest. There is a large practice area with short game and long game options. The Clubhouse is also very nice and offers some tasty snacks when you finish your round. The sandwich mixto is good value for a snack and the coffee is fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend this resort.

Room Tip: Not all rooms balconies get the afternoon sun so if this is something you would like, make sure you...

Booked for 7 of us with only 3 weeks notice and the staff in both the clubhouse, pro shop and hotel couldn't have been more accommodating.

Usually go to Turkey for golf holidays but islantilla is a friendlier, more relaxed alternative.

They coped very well with some poor weather days and allowed us to change times and days even though they are fully booked. They don't appear to cram golfers onto the course and the 1st tee off time isn't until 8:30. 2 hrs 20 is the alloyed time for 9 holes and we've never had a problem managing it.

Had read some reviews that the food is poor but we all thought it was brilliant, easily better than Turkey, more varied and with chefs cooking in front of you, to your liking every night and breakfast.

The course is tough off the very back tees but there are lots if tees to choose from further forwards. The par 5 12th is the best par 5 I've played anywhere.

The drinks are good value, portions are generous (!) and the wine menu is huge and good value also.

As the organiser of the trip, its been easy to talk to the pro shop and staff and I'll definitely be back.

Great place to stay for golfers in January and February with excellent prices and the golf in second to none , the food choices on the buffet are great but the night life is very poor unless you head to lepe and there's a great little bar called cotton beside the cinema
