“Wow!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

Fantastic. A beautiful property with two very kind and charming hosts. Olive groves, row after row of beautiful grape vines immaculately kept follow the rolling hills. Chickens (in their own large fenced in enclosure) roaming free range. This is my fourth visit to Florence and my favorite, absolutely a first class experience. Our host Tina is a beautiful graceful woman and Franco is one of the coolest hardest working men you'll ever meet. He has a personality which is infectious. Kind and fun you couldn't hope for two better people to meet on a trip.

My husband, daughter and I stayed at La Tinaia for a week this June. We found the place quite by accident when researching and planning a trip to Italy. We couldn't have been more pleased with this charming location. It is located outside of Florence in the beautiful hillside near the town of Scandicci. They grow everything you can imagine on this property... olive trees, vineyards, roses and many other flowers, fruit trees, artichokes, poppies and a vegetable garden. The even have a resident cat and some chickens too. We stayed in the apartment Erica, located on the ground floor. The apartment was fully equipped and furnished. We felt completely comfortable and safe here. There were grocery stores, restaurants and laundry facilities nearby. This proved to be the perfect location for the many day trips we took to Florence, Pisa, Lucca, San Gimignano, Siena, Tuscany and Certaldo. It is located near the tram station which takes you into Florence. In Florence we caught the high-speed train to Rome. Owners Tina and Franco were very friendly and accommodating. Tina helped us book reservations to several Florence museums and she even gave us a tour of the wine and olive oil making area of this estate.

Me and my husband have recently visited La Tinaia, and our impressions are vivid and fresh so we would like to share them with anyone who is planning to visit Florence and this picturesque region of Italy.
We have stayed in I Cipressi apartment for one week and combined busy days in Florence, Pisa and Venice with calm and quiet residence in La Tinaia. The place is indeed perfect for visiting Florence and Tuscany. We made about 15 minutes car driving till a free parking lot in Scandicci, and then spent around 20 minutes in train with its final stop in the very center of Florence. We had an individual trip and were flexible in hours visiting famous museums, galleries and cathedrals, but at the end of each day, exhausted by crowded yet beautiful sites, we sought just for silence, and found it in La Tinaia, which became a truly lovely “home” for us.
In La Tinaia we were pleasantly impressed by total privacy and relaxing atmosphere, gorgeous views, spacious rooms, pure and fresh air and clean environment. The apartment was fully equipped, and there was a feeling of safety and comfort.
Tina and Franco were very welcoming and helped us with museums’ reservations and shopping advice. We are glad we had an opportunity to have a closer look at the Italian life style, their traditions and culture. The wine they produce was very good and had a very rich taste.
We would like to recommend this place for everyone and wish good luck to Tina and Franco in their business.

We just visited the place and stayed for four night in the two bedroom apartment "Il Bosca" which is on the top floor.
Great two story flat with everything you are looking for.
Also the location of the property is nicely tucked away in the surrounding hill of Florence. Just a short car/ train ride away from the city centre.
Both Tina and Franco are very helpful and given us some great tips of places to visit. Overall very nice experience.
However there is one thing which bothered me, despite the apartment being great, the walls to the next flat are paper thin and it feels like you are sharing the place with the family next door and you can hear everything like they are in the same room with you.

Dear Silvio,
thank you for visiting our farm and for having described your experience here.
I am sorry for the inconvenience of the noise. All the interior walls of all our apartments are of bricks and cement. During your stay, in the apartment next to you, there was a family with a very young child. He got up early in the morning and ran to the apartment making noise and talking loud. Usually all guests respect the tranquility of the house.
We will be very happy to host you and your family in the future and offer you a very quiet holiday.
Best regards,
Tina

We came to La Tinaia on a private tour during off season and were greeted by the husband and wife owners. They gave us a tour of the property and treated us with a homemade Tuscan lunch with ingredients from their garden. It was so wonderful! They sat with us and chatted about life in Italy, changes in the culture, their farm activities, killing a boar, and all about the items in the kitchen. It was such a blessing to share an afternoon with them. I feel inspired to travel outside the busy cities and step into the lives of those who live at a slower pace.I am very envious of Tina and her husband for they have a beautiful life, but thankful that they shared their passion for good food and wine with us. Please ask them about why and how they started their winery - very cute story!

Our first trip to Tuscany and we couldn't have picked a nicer base. Tina and Franco are warm and friendly hosts and the idyllic hillside setting is perfect for a relaxing holiday away from the madding crowd while still being within easy commuting distance of Florence and the Chianti region.

An absolute gem tucked away in Tuscany. First and foremost our hosts, Franco and Tina made sure our stay would be memorable by all the little attention, and then there's location, it is just perfectly located just outside of Florence. The apartments are immaculate. I would definately highly recommend this oasis of peace. thumbs up Tina e Franco you get a 10/10.
