“fantastic place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

A big thank you to signora Anna, Luca and all the family ! we were a group of 6 adults and four children and stayed at locanda sant' Agata for 5 nights. the rooms were very spacious and nicely decorated, also very clean. the view from our room was breathtaking especially since we come from a city. our children loved playing on the lawn...best part of their holiday :). only a 6 minute drive from Pisa and about 15 minutes from the airport, makes Locanda sant Agata a very good location...very close to the centre but yet cut off and peaceful (also easy to find).
We had dinner here most nights and tried most items on the menu amongst us. every dish is unique and full of flavour. would recommend eating there any day.
I would love to revisit this place and the lovely people who run it! thankyou all, you made us feel at home :)

Room Tip: fantastic place when travelling with small children. we had the ground floor rooms near the garden...

Thank you to Luca and his family for accommodating us and making our first visit to Italy wonderful. After reading good reviews on here about the Locanda, we had to stay here for our weekend break. From collecting us at the airport to the end they were lovely hosts! Taking our bags straight from arrivals to our room and ensuring whatever we need they will be there. The room was more then we expected, very clean and spacious. Good gadgets! and the sky box is also in English and a nice big comfy bed! We went away in need for some peace and quiet and that's exactly what we got, if we wanted to go in to town they would take us (cheaper then the taxi rates) they will also drop you to a village near by for free. We went to the village several times as it was a nice little get a way and had two really good restaurants.

From the village we caught a train to Florence which is about and hour away. Luca kindly dropped us to the train station and told us where to stop and change over. When we came back we rang them to pick us up. Very kind and patient people. We dined there one lunch time and the food was fresh and you could tell it was locally sources. They provide a breakfast buffet with a nice spread of cold meats which I enjoyed the most!

I felt really comfortable staying here, its exactly what i wanted to feel out of this relaxing holiday, they have two dogs and I enjoyed playing with them to.

Thanks again for a lovely stay, will be looking to come back again! :)

Room Tip: We had a room above the restaurant, although very spacious the rooms with the patios looked nice too...

If you are traveling to Pisa, to see the Leaning Tower, STAY HERE!
Luca and his family are the most wonderful hosts that we met in Italy.
The accommodation is delightful, and the gourmet meals are absolutely
fantastic.... Transfers are easliy arranged, and approximately 15 minutes from
downtown Pisa.

We stayed for 4 nights Tuesday -Saturday
The welcome we got from the family & Staff was like coming home
Luca escorted us to our room and showed us where everything was.
Luca had also taken the suitcase from the car to the room which was very nice of Him

The room was very clean nicely laid out with good views over the fields.
There is a good size flat screen TV with sky so you have English speaking channels There is also a mini Bar at sensible prices.
The bathroom was very clean and had Quality soaps, Hair products where very good.
The restaurant is very good and is used a lot by locals as well which is always good sign.
Nicola (Luca’s Son) is very knowledgeable as he spent 2 years+ in the kitchen and spent a lot of time learning about the wines. Restaurant has a lot of local wines, as we were not familiar with Italian wines, Nicola recommended us and we were very pleased with the choices. Prices of wines are reasonable. If you prefer very expensive wines, you would be able to find something.
If there isn’t something on the menu that you fancy then ask Nicola or his little helpers :
His Mum Anna. His fiancé or his little sister and you will be pleasantly surprised, as you Luca will make something you will fancy.
The food is very good in fact it was that good we decided to eat there every night as there was plenty to choose from.
The Specials are changed daily so if you are there for a week you don’t have to have the same two nights running.
Breakfast was one of the best I have had in Europe plenty of Meat, Cheese, Cakes, Cereals, lots of water if you want Tea and if you ask plenty of coffee (as this is Made in the Kitchen) and fresh Milk
We were given maps and brochures of Pisa and Lucca.

The cleanliness of the hotel is faultless inside and out and there are plenty of places to sit and relax on the patio
Also FREE Car parking is very good as some Hotels Charge 20/40 Euros per night so this is a bonus.
Free WIFI was good as it didn’t have a limit and it was working all the time.
Thank You All for a lovely stay

Michael & Tatiana

We booked the accomodation due to a good location and value for money. This is an interesting place to stay because you are actually in the middle of the field, so parking isnt a problem. Note that I would like to put forward relates to the fact that noone was at the reception desk practically when ever we passed , so we could get infos we needed. The thing that I would point out is that at the reception practically The rooms (at least the red room we got) are relatively comfortable, due to unfortunate solution with a big closet that occupies a huge area and it is completely non-functional, so in the rest of the room you actually dont have a space to open 2 normal size suitcase but only one. The bathroom is also very small but functional. Slippers, vanity set, bathrobe you are not getting, just a bath foam and shampoo. Stairway to climb to the first floor (where the rooms are) is quite narrow so you can have a problem with a large suitcase. The breakfast is very nice, you have a wide selection of homemade cakes, chocolate croissant / corneto is fantastic not to be missed (the best I've ever tried) and a nice choice of prosciutto crudo and cotto and one tzpe of cheese. Bearing in mind how it looks classic Italian breakfast food selection was very good also for those who are not supporters of sweet breakfasts. Also it is practical that you have a restaurant for dinner but by our opinion it is a bit overpriced having in mind the offer and the quality of the food. Pisa is very close (Pizza dei Miracoli only 5 km), Lucca, Livorno, Montecatini terme are apx 1h drive from hear, so it is a good starting point to explore the region. If you are a vine lover near Livorno you have Lagone producer and many others local small producers of vine an olive oil. For the end I would suggest the management to consider improvement of the quality of service and politeness of a staff.

Room Tip: Dont choose a red room

In a typical Tuscan ambience, greeted by owner thoughtful and careful. An old farmhouse renovated with style and elegance, in a perfect mix of old and new. Spacious and comfortable rooms, clean and well heated. Only few minutes from the famous Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa, from the beautiful village of San Giuliano Terme, and the historical center of Lucca (need to have a car!). Excellent and rich breakfast, with fresh and genuine products. Must try the restaurant! Excellent Tuscan dishes skillfully cooked and presented. Recommended!

We checked in mid afternoon so that we could drop off our luggage before sightseeing in Pisa. The woman at the front desk was very helpful in giving us driving directions and advice about where to find parking closest to the city gate for the Leaning Tower and cathedral.

The location of this hotel is lovely, in the quiet contryside with mountain views, but just minutes into Pisa and less than half an hour to the airport.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The bed was the very best I have ever slept on in Tuscany.

We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant and enjoyed it very much. Quality and value!

There was a glitch on our departure morning. Staff had overslept and we had to summon someone by phone to the front desk so that we could settle our bill before our departure to catch our flight. That also meant that breakfast was not ready before we left, but we were served a cappucino while we paid the bill.

In spite of the glitch, it was a delightful place to stay.
