“You get what you paid for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 weeks ago

I guess for 70 euros a night I shouldn't have expected much. But it was pretty gross. Run down room and being fed on by Mosquitos. The paint in the room were chipping here and there and the dry walls were starting to crack at places. The bathroom door also couldn't open all the way because the tiles were uneven. Oh and within the 5 mile radius there were like 4 restaurants. The only good thing about this hotel was the price and the free hot breakfast :)

I made the reservation just before the check in and got an outstanding rate! The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable! I really didn't expect to get a nice hotel like this by the low price I paid. It's strategically located between Siena and Florence, and it's perfect to set a base for Tuscany trips, as long you have a car! The only complain, the internet wireless in my room was unstable and slow. For sure I'd stay there again!

Not much to see in Poggibonsi, the little town where the hotel is situated. The hotel itself is relatively clean but outdated. The shower tubs are very slippery, thus dangerous. The place becomes even more slippery when you have shower gel on your body. There is nothing for you to hold on when step in and out so my wife slipped and hurt herself quite badly. Let's not forget that the place is rated four stars! But the hotel's restaurant is the real disaster. We were part of a group tour. If you want to see the wonderful places Tuscany abounds in, you have to buy some of the so called optional tours. The people that did not board such daylong-trips were not admitted to the restaurant for dinner until the whole group returned! This despite the fact that the meal schedule intervals are displayed in each elevator. Each day, the dinner menu has a single set of dishes so if you don't like what is put in front of you, eat somewhere else or starve. To make their lives easier, the staff joined the tables two or three in a row, so resulted common tables for eight to ten people. So you have to share the place with people you do not know, you do not like or you have nothing in common to talk about, the way they used to do in the army, prison or at the wedding parties. The offer for breakfast is very poor, both in terms of diversity and quantity. The empty plates are slowly replaced and if you come to have breakfast after the group departed, you have to ask for something. If you are not among the first comers, it's almost impossible to find the whole choice at your disposal. The coffee, self service from two coffee machines, is the worst coffee you had in your life: weak and tasteless. Remember that Italy produces some famous coffee brands! In the first days just one set of oil, vinegar, salt and pepper dispensers were offered at dinner to some 50 people.
Our menu stated that dinner will include water and 'a glass of wine', without saying the size of the glass. So the restaurant management found the smallest glass, conceived for liquors. The waiters came with bottle in hand, pour a little bit over 50 ml of wine in each one's glass and left with the bottle in hand. Forget the second helpings! And that happens in a 4* hotel, in Italy, the country world famous for it's huge production of good quality wine. I hope that you got the picture, I do not have the nerve to add more. Most people complained but nothing changed. The available staff has just the power to listen to customer's demands. The general manager never showed. I went to reception to say the way we were treated. Nothing happens. I wrote a letter to the general manager. I asked for a stamp on my copy, in order to make sure that letter reaches him. Stamp refused. So I went to the Post and sent it with receiving confirmation. Still nothing. If you do not trust me, you are free to discover it, on your own money! You will regret it!

Room Tip: Front part seems to be better in terms of view. I wasn't lucky so we had a room with view on inn...

2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

My wife and I we spent a week at this hotel in early May, as the place to stay in a Toscana tour bought from home.
The hotel is rather basic; it has some opportunities, but is far from, what normally we suppose to be, a four stars hotel.
The good points are: a young lady at the front desk very kind and helpful, decent breakfast and dinner and the railway station at the end of a 10 min pleasant walk.
The bad points are mainly one: the room. It looked old and tired; the furniture, the TV set, and the bathroom are from the 80’s, the walls were dirty, the shower is only 1 m long, the toilet was flowing permanently (they didn’t fixed it in 7 days!), the fridge door was damaged( they fixed it after 3 days), the Wi-Fi is free, but weak, etc, etc.
If you are looking for a simple location as a base for exploring Toscana, this hotel could be a convenient one. If you really want a four stars hotel for the money you paid, look elsewhere!
Tips: travel to Siena by bus, not by train; the wine in the restaurant is bad; buy excellent wine from the nearby supermarket; you’ll need an adapter for using the plug in: buy one from the supermarket!.

Room Tip: Try the fifth floor.

Stayed from September 18 to 21, 2013. room very plain with small bathroom but clean. Breakfast meals okay but bacon never cooked just heated. One dinner okay. Other meal terrible. Went out one night to dinner at LaCertosa restaurant across from Charterhouse where monks live. Fantastic night with included opera singers, accordian player, piano player and violin and also included dancing, steak dinner with wine included. Don't miss a chance to go there. There was a Grocery complex within 2 minute walk from hotel. Ate lunch there and bought cheese and crackers for room.

2 night we spent in the hotel. The staff helped us a lot with our bike service before our Tuscany ride. The room was correct size but very clear. Breakfast was surprised, they cooked for us white eggs and served expresso coffee instead of American one. Wireless were available everywhere. First night we took dinner at their bar and it was nice small bites with great wine and surpassingly good price.

Room Tip: Last floor room (5th) was our selection.

We spent 4 days in September with a Cosmos Trip: very very bad! The worst hotel of our trip!!!!!!!! Besides the nice lady at the front desk, this place was really bad. The room hasn't been upgraded in years. There's mold in the bathroom. The place was old and dirty. Spend your money elsewhere!
