Last year while visiting his lovely Tuscan hilltown we had had a delicious meal at Ristorante Hostaria del Ceccottino and drove from Orvieto hoping to repeat the experience only to find that that restaurant was closed on the day (26 December). We opted, therefore, to try this nearby restaurant, which was a bit of a disappointment. While the room was comfortable and warm on a cold and wet winter day, there were no smells emanating from the kitchen. We started with the local pasta, known as Pici, with a zucchini and truffle sauce - but it was plate of stodge and were unable to finish it. The ravioli with sage and butter was the better option (even though the sage was dried instead of fresh). It was nothing special but 'nice enough'. Our main courses were rabbit with carmelised onions and a pork mixed grill. The rabbit dish was tasty tasty but the portion of rabbit was small. There were four cuts of pork, the best of which was the sausage; the rest we okay but perhaps a little dry. The coffee was very good - strong Americano which were delivered as espressos in a large cup with a jug of hot water to mix to taste. Total cost for the meal was 48 Euro, including a half-litre of passable house red wine and a bottle of sparkling water.
